All i said is i dont log it until im done and ready to leave. Since I just drove for 5 hours and i might have been off duty for 15 minutes to 45 minutes depending on what i did, I might be a few minutes off. What's so hard to understand about that?

In reality, you could receive a ticket. The duty status is to be updated at the time it happened.

Will you receive a ticket? Most likely not, unless the dot officer happens to find you at the time and is a real jerk.

one of the fingers is ripped out of my gloves and i forgot to replace it when i was at walmart. Dont wanna spend the truckstop price... ;)

As far as inspection, I was just saying i can do it. Fine, I usually don't. The company doesn't give a #### about that trailer and neither do I. I've seen them put fresh DOT stickers on trailers that are falling apart, why should I do any different. I dont care.

Yeah but you need to care about the rubber and the brakes and the lights! Those are all crucial to safe operation. You say you don't do the brake/ pump down tests etc. but you really need to do them! It will show if your trailer has any leaks or other issues with the air system. The brake tests also adjust the brakes on auto adjusters which most companies run these days.

You gotta check brake lights and blinkers too as this is the only communication between you and the traffic around you. If your brake lights and signals aren't working it could cause an accident.

Personally I want to know my brakes are working like they should because that's the difference between life and death.

They all work before i take off. I hooked to a trailer with non working brakes once, and noticed it before i took off. And fixed it.

Yeah but if you've got a chamber about to go and it leaks out in route faster than your pump can keep up they're going to lock up on you. Brake tests are the only way you're going to find problems.

    Lucky me...Never had back problems.

I'm enjoying seeing the twisted reasoning in the feeble attempts at justifying the stupid things that guy's think is OK to log.

    I do care...and I don't get tickets.

    That's fine...But it IS illegal.

    Hmmmmmm.......!

    Hmmmmmmmm...........!

    I find the subject interesting...

I've gotten myself in the habit of logging it "as I do it" If I note the change of duty when I arrive somewhere and then again when I leave I don't have to sit there thinkin'..."Now, What time was it when I got here?":biggrin_25523:

I CHECK THAT BEFORE I TAKE OFF. as i alrady said. The pump down test does not check that, duhhhh.

I try to keep notes but sometimes im hungry and just wanna eat. It's always been reasonable and the dot has never said anything about it.

You're a real ######## aren't you? I did say TESTS as in PLURAL. The hold down test will show if you have any leaks!
