Well I had a Francis for about 2 months. I loved it till the day it died. My student found a tree. It was mounted on a T600 in the arm mount. That is a prime example of what happens when you take a side road in hotlanta because you were using the gps to guide you rather then your brain. Some people just dont use them as added tools to thier box. They throw away the box and only carry 1 tool and hope that it can fix everything. But to answer the question. Yes those 5.5ft Francis are nice I got great swrs off it and it did have a lot of flex to it in the wind. just don't smack it with a tree branch about halfway down.

The problem with this is the radiation is greatest at the bottom of the antenna. Also getting a good VSWR gets harder.

and by the time you buy two of those glass sticks (break one/replace with another)you could have bought one Wilson 2K and still be beating branchs with it for months to come.

It's going to be on my car on a tri-mag mount, I saw a Francis 5.5 in the internet for $20 shipping included.

The 102 is unbreakable. Try to break it. TRY IT!!!!

I don't see how you can stand to have a magnet mount on your car. So cheap looking. :( That's why i went and drilled a hole in my car.

why not just get a wilson 1000 mag mount? like the 102 very hard to break, plus its a mag mount which you have stated you wanted

I already have the tri-mag mount and if I want a Wilson 1000 I have to cough up about $80 compared to $20 for Francis or $40 for the workman 3000 which reviews have been good for this particular antenna.

I move from car to car so I can't drill a hole on a rent a car, maybe on my car, but I wouldn't want to do that.

Who on here owns the Wilson 1000 mag mount and can give me some feedback on this antenna compared to the Francis and the Workman 3000

Well thats different. You can do like i did however, and have a permanent mount with quick release on your car...and then you can put that on your mag mount for the rental if you arnet going to use them both at the same time... :) Of course i never take my antenna off, but the quick release is cool to have.

If you already have a mag mount why would you buy a different one? Your tri mag is going to hold a lot better than any antenna that comes with a magnet. You have basically an unlimited choice of antennas to use with that thing...
