in one way, shape or form..........

I ues to work for Prime but I did not vote for them. Not a bad company if you dont mind staying on the road for a month at a time and you CAN NOT LEASE A TRUCK!!! I was a company driver for them.
I voted CRE and I have a good freind that works there and it is bad, real bad over there. They are so F'ed up with everything over there he will be having a lawsuit filed with them here when he quits in a month. -
What's so bad over there? How are things "F'ed" up over there? If you don't mind me asking, why is your friend filing a lawsuit? What went so terribly bad?
Just curious because I'm a L/O with england doing pretty well and I've heard a lot of stuff. -
Well for the past 3.5 years work to me is being a Marine Grunt with 2 combat deployments under my belt(Iraq 2 years ago Afghnistan sep. 2009-apr.2010).... 7 months of getting shot at and being blown up by 3 ieds is what work is for me right now.
If you have to stay out for 2 and a half months at a time and never get home even for say a 34 hr reset anywhere in there like I never did then there is something wrong. Who said I was whining anyways? I did stay on the road at one point for over 3 months and enjoyed the hell out of it. That was with my trainer and if I could go back and run a team with him I would but he is no longer a driver.
Yes there lease payments at Prime were between 730 and 800 a month. I see nothing wrong with leasing a truck only at certain companies though and Prime would not be one of them. I personally would rather be a company driver for a year and save my money and buy a $20K rig outright and keep that 800 bucks a week... Soudns like a better idea and a way to make more money to me.
He has told me about his break downs with his brand new freightliner and how CRE screwed him on pay because of it for 2 months even though it was warranty work(He had to pay for the repairs), also who would want to pay for a elase on a truck that does 63 MPH??? How do you make money? He is making less then a grand a week and was telling me about his runs as a trainer. He was running 6K miles a week and was making under a grand a week??? No thanks I can do that with Prime as a company driver running my max hours in a week which was never a problem.
I dont doubt that you do good with the company but it all depends on your FM or dispatcher and your truck being reliable. I'm not trying to offend you or CRE but I have my personal opinions and I think I have the right to say as I please, do I not?
Anybody else reading this I have one question. Do you think it is safer for a truck to run 63 MPH or be able to run 70 MPH? Going across AZ and NM doing 63 when the speed limit is 75 and there are trucks doing 75+ seems unsafe to me. -
To my knowledge, nobody accused you of whining. If you thought it was me, I distinctly remember asking if you if you would whine because at the time, I figured you were stating your pro opinion about not staying out for longer than a month at a time.
But wait a minute..... If Prime doesnt charge varible mileage, isnt it kinda interesting that their lease payments are so much higher??
Id rather be a company driver too, but we are infact making more as leasers than when we were company'ers...
Actually, I rather have the experieince to drive as a company driver that paid even more as i make now as L/O.
If it was true warranty work, he shouldnt have to pay anything. How did he "have" to pay for the repairs, anyway?
Even at 62 mph, I still make money. I could make more If I could go faster, but since I only pay a portion of what the actual pump price of fuel is, I'll keep my mouth shut about the slower truck. I hate to say it, but Ive actually gotten used to it.
When we ran that many miles once, we took home almost 1500 bucks in one week. That was even after the tax reserve fund and about 200 bucks going into our downtime fund.
Oh believe me, you arent offending me. I know that a lot of people mistakenly assume that I get offended when someone says someting bad about England when its not true. I just cant understand why theres so much negativity when I stand back and realize I'm doing fairly well for myself and I really dont even feel that Im having to work all that hard
Of course you have a right to say whatever you want, but dont expect a whole lotta respect when you put it in such a bold manner by saying, "I have the right to say as I please". Thats like saying, "I think the sky is green and you have to respect that because I have that right to say as I please.".
Id like to go faster too, but its never gonna happen unless the law or government steps in and makes it illegal for these companies to govern their trucks so low. -
I will have to call him this week and talk to him and have him refresh my memory again.
I will say this though people can like any company they want and do great there.
There is a guy on here who is a flatbed driver for swift and is loving the hell out of it. -
Milskired: Thanks for your service dude!
As for replying to cornelieous, give up! You'll do better fighting the gomers where you are now than trying to argue with a CRE Cheerleader! Go look at most of his posts! He's a freaking rookie giving advice and of course he doesn't need to go home. He's got about the only thing worth going home for in the truck so he doesn't understand the importance of home time.
He's stuck in this fleece and loves it but can't afford to go home and take care of other things, that is if he owns a home and not renting an apartment somewhere! Apparently there are no children that need daddy either or plumbing problems or grass that needs to be mowed but he thinks that being a slave to a truck is the cats meow. Even when I owned my own I made it home usually 2 times a month for truck maintenance and honeydo list problems. The only times I'd stay out longer was the first of the year when freight picked up and I made up for lost time due to weather conditions.
But anyway quit arguing with the rookie! He's worst than wrestling with a pig in the mud! After a while you figure out the pig enjoys it! -
Was the "he does not need to go home towards me or cornelieous?
I have a house and a wife and a hobbies that do not inclede driving a truck. I may be a rookie but I see nothing wrong with the advice I am giving to some people. Everybody has there opinions.
Not sure if your post was towards me or not but I know what I am talking about and I see no reason to stay out for months at a time unless you do not own a house or have a home other then your truck. -
NO Milskired, it's towards corn! Sorry for the misconception.
