Hey everybody, I guess this is the place to come for current Roehl training info. Well, so far they've accepted my app, I'm approved for financing, they've approved my MVR, and last I heard they are currently verifying my employment. I'm surprised I've even made it this far with my recent luck in job hunting! IIRC, I believe she told me that I will be getting a physical next, then I need to get my learners permit? Anyone know how long this next process will take? At least getting the physical scheduled, it shouldn't take me long to get my permit as I'm a bus driver right now and still have my WI CDL manual and still read some every now and then.
It sounds like classes are filling up pretty fast, and I was told last week that the next available date would be the week of 7/6. I'm not sure if all this will be completed by then, but the sooner the better. Thanks for the heads up on the exercise tests, looks like I'll start getting in some practice starting immediately. Not that I'm extremely concerned, but I'm a pretty big dude. I was exercising (as in weight lifting), up until probably 2 months ago so it probably won't take too long to get my body used to it again. Once again, thanks for all the valuable info, maybe I'll see some of you up there in a few weeks if I can get through this process quick enough.

Not sure how fast things are filling up. There are only 3 in my class. There are about 15 other guys in orientation hiring on.
Your physical should be pretty quick. July 6th is not out of line as a start. Basically it depends on getting your paperwork in. You will be contacted by the Allied Medical group to get your physical. They set up the appointment and call you telling you when to get there. As long as you pass that stuff you'll be good to go and only have to sign on the dotted line and show up. Make sure you got all the paperwork ie Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, and you'll be ready to go.
One suggestion I would make is to work on squats and remember to breathe. Breath through the test too. That is the trigger that will spike your heart rate.
Good luck! -
Passed the DOT got my permit. Ready for class. Waiting to hear the "offical" start, but it looks like July 6th. Sooner if God will's, I know I am ready.

Thanks!!!!
I took an eye exam to get my permit. I almost failed because my right eye was having a spasm. Do I have to get my vision retested when I go from permit to full CDL A? And same question for when you transfer from WI CDL to your local state? Thanks. -
yes and yes

Not sure about the eye tests. I think that once you pass you pass. Unless they note that you need to be re-checked.
Day 2 in the books!
Started off the morning with some shifting instruction. No problem... as I've done the double clutch thing before. Felt pretty confident I could handle it with relative ease. Learned about the "ROEHL WAY" Got to meet some interesting characters that are signing on. Some experienced some fresh out of school and some O/O's leasing on. Seems like people really are liking what Roehl is about. I'm learning more about the company I have chosen to work for. I think so far I feel pretty good about this decision.
In the afternoon the 3 of us in the school went back with our instructor and proceeded to get into the truck. Got the to ride along then it was our turn. We turned left! round and round! little repetative, but needed. Little rusty I was, but felt very familiar. By my second turn this thing was getting better I'm feeling very good about it! Not the smoothest, but functional. Went over the PTI and got some valuble info! "present, secure, and no leaks!"
Tomorrow I'll be turning right! Then out to the roadways in the afternoon!!!! woot woot!!!! Should be interesting!
Day three tomorrow... Having a good time here! -
Do you mind asking one of your instructors tomorrow if you have to retake the eye exam when we get our CDL in WI? It turns out I need a new perscription, but want to wait until I have insurance.
I thought we got our CDL in WI, then transfer it to our home state. Is this true? I really appreciate you asking about the eye exam. Thanks. -
yes you have to do the eye thing "look into the box" b4 they issue the cdl... and im sure your state will too... WI makes you do the eye test to change your address

Pickens, you will need your CDL A permit in hand before you even get to Marshfield. After you test out for your actual CDL A license, you will then take you completed test paper work home and transfer that permit into the hard copy real deal license.
