respect to the older drivers

The best truck this cheap company has ever bought.. Ran them a few times down I95 and they ride like a car.. Probably nothing like the the T660's FedEx Freight provides but they are way better than the Sterlings..

 

My father bought his first brand new Mack in 1976, no air ride, no A/C, and a sleeper wasn't even an option,
He spent 6 months sleeping on a board across the seats until he had a sleeper made for it, and it was the size of a coffin. I am not that old but I have been around old trucks all my life, I rode in those old Macks many times with my dad and learned to drive on old trucks.

My first truck was an old GMC Astro cabover, no air ride, no A/C, very rough ride, we just recently bought a 2010 Cascadia and it is amazing how far trucks have come from the old days, the Cascadia is so comfortable and quiet, it is like driving a car. These new drivers who only know this fancy new equipment, with GPS and laptops and microwaves and fridges in the truck, really don't know how good they have.

 

I have a question: Why did you put your behind out on the line to drive unsafe equipment? That must have been one good paying load to risk your life driving junk!

You are in charge of your own safety. If something bad were to happen that would jeopardize your life, then in the end you only have yourself to blame. Would your company stand up for you during an investigation? No.

It's not about respect. This is 2010 A.D. Times have changed for the worse as far as respect towards veteran drivers, but while I DO respect the work and long hours that you have put in, always remember this: Safety is no joke.

They must've cancelled all of those options between 1973 and 1976 because my friend Lee bought a brand new Mack in 1973 and it had A/C and a sleeper (Air ride was optional)...Go figure!

They cry all the time no matter how good they have it because they were never cut out to be long haul drivers in the first place!
