Oldest O/O still driving ?

Oh this post put a smile on my face, now can you please get this man to join this site or even drop in for a guest interview!! How interesting and valuable this driver would be to any given thread on this forum.

Thanks for posting about him I for one love knowing he is out there and cancels out some of the negativity you read about the trucking business.

 

We already have a member of this forum like that. He goes by Native Dancer. He is not quite that old, but close to it. He lives in the Northwest US and runs a FLATBED. He specializes in the Northwest US to Alaska and back. When he doesn't have any of that kind of work available, he runs short to medium lengths of haul in the western states. He is the kind of guy that I would pay for the privilege to sit down and listen to him talk, just about random thoughts and experiences from his lifetime.

 

What about SP, he`s been around the block a few times too, be good to have a yarn with him too I reckon he could tell some wild stories.

 

Does a Water Trucker count?

If so, I second this, He should have a thread with some of his tales from the road. That would be a good read.

 

My father was an O/O until the day he died, which was two months shy of his 70th birthday. As a matter of fact, he died under his truck while trying to fix a fuel leak.

 

I work with an old timer he just turned 83 years old been trucking for over 40 years when I asked why doesn't he retire he answered you know what happens to an old machine when you stop using it, it siezes up i'll be dammed if thats going to happen to me I wanna die taking a leak behind a tire on the side of the road LOL

 

I'd love to be that old and have some punk kid with a badge trying to tell me I was doing something wrong....

....just to see the look on the 40 yr old cops face when I told him I had 20 years in my job before he quit crapping his diapers, and when he grows up a little and gets some experience under his belt, THEN he can come talk to me and try to tell me how to do MY job.



You can get away with a lot more when you've got a few years under your belt... Sad thing is, I saw a sheriff deputy at a truck stop that didn't look a day over 21...I'd have a hard time taking him seriously if he pulled me over for any reason....and I've still got a long way to go before I reach 80.
