It is a training period. Roehl is set up where a new driver goes out with a trainer for up to 13 days then goes out with another one for another 13 days. They are called Evo I and Evo II. After the second evo they have you come in and do a road test and an open book test. After you successfully pass that you are assigned your truck and placed on an evo III dispatch board. Its a board for new drivers who can get extra hand holding if it is needed. After a certain period of time if one progresses well he/she is placed on the normal fleet board. It use to be if someone failed the road test/written test they were given more time in the Evos. I don't know how forgiving Roehl is now.
Should be starting Roehl in late February

Did you choose to take the prepass or EZ Pass? Is it worth it?
-
We did. I think it's worth it however I never could understand why Roehl made drivers pay a co pay for it. Schneider has ez pass and it's free to the drivers.
-
its all the same unit and YES it allows you to cruise thru and not spend your cash upfront, also bypass scales while others are waiting in line

Back on the road today. Sitting at a wharehouse in Greensburg, PA listening to the rain tapping the roof. The unloading folks don't show up until 4:00 am so not much I can do until the morning as nothing real close to go to. The drive up here wasn't too bad until I hit WV 857. They are building a better road to the border but it ain't finished so had to deal with some pretty serious switchback turns and then a hell of a lot of construction on US 119. Got a preplan for tomorrow picking up in Clarksburg, WV and delivering in Lansing, MI at 4 am on Friday morning. No way I can make that trip on time as I have to burn about 3 hours heading back through those ###### roads to Clarksburg. Hopefully they can get the appt time changed as I wouldn't mind heading up to Michigan to get further away from I-95

So are you now done with EVO 3? I can't remember if you said. Otherwise, what is the point where you are done?
-
Yeah I am done with EVO 3.
Ran my ### off today and managed to escape alot of the traffic through the construction this morning as they got me unloaded pretty fast. Got loaded fast as well in Clarksburg, WV with a full trailer weighing a whopping 7000 lbs
. Figured I could make it to Lansing, MI this afternoon if all went well so checked to see if I could get it off today and was told yes as it was a d/h deal. Made it with an hour to spare and with enough time to roll back to the nearby truckstop. Got a plan to pickup at the border of Ohio tomorrow and relay the load back to Mogadore with no time pressures tomorrow. Hope to get something good out of there for the weekend. Going to try and get a decent meal tonight as didn't have much time to eat well today.

Today started out promising and then went slightly to the crapper. Had a pickup in lower Michigan at a tile place that I was relaying to Mogadore with a preplan to pick up in Upper Ohio at Mohawk paper down to Ellenwood. All started well as I dropped my empty and hooked up to the one they were loading. Checked my trailer tires and one only had about 20 psi. They place had an air compressor so I filled it up and spotted the tiny leak. Luckily there was a tire place nearby. Second problem, tiles are #### heavy and they loaded me up with 79,900 and with too much in the rear to legally balance with the states it has to run through so took it back to the shipper and they took off a 2300 lb pallet and everything was fine but managed to burn through some good work time getting everything fixed. Got the load dropped in Mogadore and of course no empty trailers in the yard. Call dispatch and they tell me to bobtail to Mohawk (ca. 90 miles away) and pick up the empty there to load. Well I get to Mohawk and there ain't no trailers. Call dispatch again and someone on that end screwed up so rolled down to the J as I was nearly out of hours anyway to await word tomorrow. Went in to buy some things at FJ and realized my trusty credit card was missing from my wallet. Remembered last paying for the scale ticket in Michigan and called them up hoping it was there and it was. The manager at the Pilot was very pleasant and promised to ship it off to my house tonight. So a pretty eventful day and I hope a pleasant evening as I sit here near to the Lake Erie border with some very pleasant weather.

I have a question regarding relays. I was supposed to relay this last load to Ellenwood terminal when the final destination is just a few miles away in Norcross with a delivery time that would be right in line of when I could take it on over. Is there any reason that they would have me drop it in the yard rather than just delivering it the final few miles? Have any of you had situations such as this?
-
Roehl will pick up loads that don't have to be delivered right away. That load may have a appointment a week away. So what they do is deliver it to the nearest terminal and when the delivery gets near thay assign it to a driver. I have brought many loads into Garland that I relay because they don't deliver for a few days. This is actually a good thing because it keeps us rolling instead of sitting for a few days waiting to deliver.
