Can anyone provide me with a torque / hp chart for an ISX 500? Or can anyone tell me where the peak HP and torque numbers come at, and where that "sweet spot" is? Want to make sure I pick the right rear end ratio for optimal cruising speed. Volvo 780, ISX 500, 13sp, total gross 50k, cruise 65-70mph. What ratio would you suggest to keep the RPMs in the sweet spot? I will be running entire lower 48. Thanks!

I run an ISX500 (1850tq) with 13 speed in a 780 Volvo with 3:58 rears. At 65 mph I'm at 1400 RPM. My MPG is around 7.6 with 77k lb gross.

Peak torque for a 15 liter ISX starts at 1200 rpm and continues until 1400 rpm before it starts to fall off. Peak horsepower is around 1800 rpm.

Am I doing my math right? 13 speed, 24.5 rubber, 3.73 rears would be running 62 mph at 1400 rpm? Can someone correct me if need be?

I've narrowed it down to a handful of trucks I'm looking at. All Volvo 780s, ISX500, 13sp, with varying rear ends. Without being able to test drive them all, I'm looking for the truck best geared for pulling <50k gross and running the speed limit, be it 65 or 70, and staying under 1400 rpm. What would you guys suggest?

And am I too hopeful to look for 7.5-8 mpg in that setup with a light load? Again only 45-50k gross, at most. Thanks.

3.42 if you wanna stay under 1400 rpm at 65 mph. With 3.58 you'll be right at 1400 rpm at 65 mph, but it will pull better up hill. Driving on straights you'll do slightly better with lower ratios. I'm seeing incredible MPG improvement after dissabling my EGR as well, from 7.5 to 8.5 US mpg avarage with 75-77k gross.

That's what I love about the ISX. It comes alive at 1200 on a hill. Others are downshifting and you're still going and going and going.
