I have just about finished my training time and will have a truck assigned to me in the next week or two. I will need to have a CB, antennas and any other related items installed. I live in northern NJ. What is the best way (and shops) to buy this equipment and to have it installed and dialed in?

Check the internet for a local CB shop near you . Start with a Cobra 29 or something similar and decent antennas . You do not need a big radio or large antennas to get across the street !
Keep it simple ..... Good Luck out there . -

You are on the right track, find a reputable shop, to many cut and crank hacks on the internet.

Could always learn to do it yourself. It's actually fairly easy.
