I take a BH, to Carolina Logistics there in Garland, a bunch of reclamation items that are eighter damaged or outa date, and of course they manage to bust open bags of pop corn kernels, soda in box, bags of sugar, basically any an everything that will get down into the groves of the slotted trailer floor. But this isn't my first rodeo running this load. So once im unloaded I pull out my broom and start sweeping up the mess. Knowing that once I unload I have to go to Kellogs and pick up a load. I pull up to the security gate, the guard opens my trailer door, looks in there tells me I missed a few spots and goes back in his shack gets on his radio to tell them so so live load is here for their appt. Next thing I know, their telling me they can't load a reefer, to go back an get another trailer!!! Mind you im coming outa LBK Tx. Running back to the yard to "get another trailer" would be about a 6 hr drive. And not only that, I worked for a grocery distribution company!! WE DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY DRY BOXES IN OUR FLEET!!!! So they tell me that im gonna have to leave the yard an pull over to the street a few blocks over to get it all straightened out with my DM. So I hop on the phone, call em up, they say to hang tight, that they'll call an get it figuered out. I hop in the sleeper, bout 3 hrs later, I gota suit knockin at my door, tellin me to come on back over, that it was all a misunderstanding!! So I roll over their, get my door, then sit for another 4hrs to get loaded!!!!! Well by now im outa hrs, we run e-logs, so really, I can'y move the truck w/o getting a violation, so I ask the security gaurd if I just finsh out my 10 hrs their on the yard......OF COURSE NOT!!! I got the dumb yard dog knockin on my door tellin me too, move my truck or he would move it for me!!!!! He needs that door is what he kept on saying!!! Well dude!!! I can't move my truck!!! So I call up my DM AGAIN, and explain to him the situation, an he informs me that if I just keep the truck under 5mph, the E-log won't register it, so I turn my hazards on an roll back to the street I was at previously, an finally, get to finsh, my 10hr break!!! So word of wise, if you have to pick up a load their, get ready for a 3 ring circus if your ducks aren't all in a row!!!

I would have told everyone to pizz off! That serves Them right for treating you so poorly! Do you realize that had some drunk a55 4wheeler slammed into your truck as you were moving it, OUT OF HOURS, the accident would have been YOUR FAULT! and your DM, your company, and Kellogg would have hung you out to dry!!!
For Pete's sake, drivers cover your rear! These people don't care about you, or your record! Hell, most of them don't even like you! They only tolerate drivers because they can't move the #### freight without us, yet!!! -
Anything is Garland TX is going to be a cluster ####. Has gone from nice early suburb of DLS to 3rd world country. I would like to have some guard tell me he was going to move MY truck. LOL
-
yeah, he was a real a-hole, but by this point I was just ready to get off the yard and end this nightmare!!!
-
Ya'll just to flipping friendly, thats your problem.
Bumping food warehouse docks isnt trucking, but a GREAT PLACE TO START!!
-
lol, isn't trucking?! Last time I checked, I pretty sure I operated a class 8 tractor, with every endorsment to go along with it!! Im not taking away from what you OTR guys do, but you come live a day in my shoes, we drive our tractors down streets that you wouldn't even think twice about attemting, pulling that 53ft trailer in and around 4 wheelers in that cramped 5 o'clock traffic slammed parking lot of the local 7-11, all the mean while lining your ramp up with the sidewalk and getting within inches of the parking posts in front of the store!!! Buddy, I can make my tractor do a song and dance, that you could only dream of doing!!! U come try my job for a day, and then you can say, what I do isn't "TRUCKING"!!!

Trouble maker.
Never bumped a food warehouse. Never pulled a reefer. Did city p/d for many years. But once I started doing flat and OD I really started to enjoy it more. You can have all that waiting and missing time by a minute you're screwed BS. Seems like most people waiting on flat freight are more laid back. If you're a day early no problem. If you have breakdown or delay try to get it here asap.
-
So you can drive a truck ?

The other 90% of trucking isn't in your experience qualification(s).
-
If you say so boss...
-
i would have told the yard guy if he thought he could move it try. then if he made any attempt to touch my truck it would have gotten nasty
