1999 KW W900..when the PSI is below 60, I get the red idiot light on the top of the visor but no audible alarm.
However, if I turn the ignition on w/o the engine, I see the OIL idiot light and the alarm/chime does go off.
I suspect the alarm/chime is for several reasons and you then need to look at the idiot light panel to see what it's chiming for.
Since the light lights for UNDER 60psi, I presume the sensor is AOK
and since the buzzer buzzes for low oil PSI, I presume the buzzer is AOK.
Is there a separate buzzer or any idea why this doesnt buzz?

Hanadarko unscrew that little rectangular piece where it shows all the low oil air lights pull it forward and see it the low air alarm has been disconnected.

Theres only one buzzer, if its been disconected he wouldnt hear it as he turns on ingnition. Its a KW thing, my buzzer works but light dont, you only need 1 of the 2 to pass DOT
Hanadarko Thanks this. -
Ok. I wasnt sure as I never had a rig that only 1 of them worked.
any thoughts on how to fix/trouble shoot this?
The 1 buzzer buzzes so we know thats good
The 1 light lights so we know thats good
Since the light comes on at and out at 60+ the sensor is good
..whats left to look at or repair?
Faulty instrument panel thingy?
I did see some dipswitches on it and perhaps some combination of those does things like this (maybe?) but w/o documentation I can only guess.

I had this problem in my '69 White Freight Liner. Drove me bat sh$#%T. Corrected this by wiring in another buzzer/alarm right off the low pressure switch. Works like a charm. You can run down to radio shack and get a different sounding buzzer so you will know the difference between low air and low oil. I also picked up the test wires with the aligator clips. Can come in handy if you need to a qwick wire job to get back to base or finsh your run.

Hawaii ? WOW!

I got married there, but can't drive there until they finish that bridge.
..I like the idea of a different buzzer. Something shrill maybe. But OTOH, I would like to know why something factory isn't working. I think I will keep asking around and thinking. If I can't get an OEM solution, then I certainly can drop into "Bozo Barn" (as we call it) and see what options I might have.
I hate things that don't work right.
-Obviously buying a used 1999 KW would cause conflict with that statement.

I have a similar truck, a '97. You have to remove the panel with the lights on it. On the back, there is a row of dip switches. You can set which lights will set off the buzzer. Number 5 should be the switch you are looking for.
I actually have the manual for that little panel.
1-coolant level
2-stop engine
3-low oil pressure
4-5th wheel slide
5-low air
6-suspension dump
7-water temperature
8-diff locksnowman_w900 and Hanadarko Thank this. -
Ah hah...thats cool. Care to share each dip switch?
I saw this red switch thing last weekend when I had the visor area out.
Maybe 10-12 white switches?
I plan on doing this Sat early am. Its just too dam hot out right now and the rig is in the dead of the sun. NO SHADE
PS. Thanks

You should see the edit. I'm not sure about the other switch you are talking about.

no, thats it...8-12 little dip switches.
Does it say UP/ON = buzzer?
DOWN/OFF = Silent?
