I wouldn't think it should be too difficult. You won't get "top shelf" of the truck jobs but you should find something decent.

Hello, JamesM and Welcome to the Site

The 20 year old DUI will not pose a problem for you. Most trucking companies require a 5 year MVR and work history for recent graduates. Experienced drivers usually have to provide a 10 year.
Depending on what is actually listed on your MVR,ie. the open container charge...that would be the only hindrance for you.
As Mike NC has stated you should be able to find ample work.
What school did you attend? Did they offer you any placement?
Best of Luck!!!Baack Thanks this. -
thanks you guys for calming my nerves. To answer your question ga. n.w. and no they didnt.

JamesM There are allot of companies out there that can and will hire you look around on the net you will find them then call them. Don't just do the online applications. Show your interest. If you get turned down keep trying dont give up.
-
and don't check "yes" to the question "have you ever been convicted of dui" 20yrs ago is as good as NO. I think the open container thing will be on there for 7yrs
-
I wouldn't lie on an app. If you get caught, it could cause more trouble down the road. It's probably best to show you're honest and that you've learned a lesson.
-
Was the open container ticket related to a motor veh or was it a public ticket like on a street or a park??
-
If he puts yes for that question they won't even get to the part that he explains the 20yrs ago, it'll be in the trash.

I currently have a 5 year old dui and have a OTR job making 600 plus a week.
I'm sure you won't have any problems finding a job.
Also, most applications say to provide your last 5 years. So saying no to dui is truthful
because you don't have one in the last 5 years.
