I need some advice. Ive been driving for 2 years. Im 24 years old out of Dallas. My goal is to drive for heavy haul, but my problem no one wants to give me a chance to prove my self. Im a #### good driver, i drove since i was 14 for a farmer, but I cant tell that to the company because it wont do any good since i was not a legal age to drive a big truck. I never had any tickets...etc How can i possible get in??? I even tryed telling companies to even pay me $300 a week to learn, ill be a co-driver, as long as i can just get in. And still get shutdown. My biggest problem is my age, companies think i might be irresponsible, which im not. I had one company tell me it will take 3-5 years for me to get into heavy haul through them, I would have to start hauling flatbed from dallas to canada for 33c a mile and then 3-5 years later ill start learning heavy haul. Is this really the only way? If you know someone even owner opps, that could help me and let me prove them how good of a driver i am PLEASE let me know. And please if you have any advice for me please share I want to learn as much as possible.
    Thank you,
    Dod Bless

there's alot more to heavy hauling than most think, you need to know how to operate the equipment your loading, how many chains for that specific weight etc etc etc. I f that's what your heart is set on I'd suggest you inquire at construction companies. Probably start out in a dump truck and as long as they know you have an A, be sure they know what your interested in eventually. Good luck to ya

Your trying to get into HH without paying your dues. You want to be turned loose with a gross weight of 132K or more with no exp? Good luck. The best way is hire on with a co. that has flats/steps and HH and work your way up.

I've never done heavy haul, but I am 26, so I know it can be kinda challenging getting your foot in the door, alot of companies won't hire you, not bc they think your irresponsible, but bc the insurance company thinks you are a risk. Usually once you hit 25 more doors will open up, maybe not the one you want, but as the others stated, start small and build up from there. I just recently got 2 years under my belt, busting my hump delivering grocery, and now I qualify for somthing more local, and better pay. Gonna try my luck out hauling fuel. But keep your head up, and stick with it, AND PAY YOUR DUES!!!! lol, Good luck man

Keep your license clean drive till the opportunity comes. If you want something bad enough it will come.

I will use a friend as an example he went from Dry-Van to Reefer to tri-axle trash hauling to boat hauling to heavy hauling it slow long proses but he did it over a 10 or so year time slot. Now he wishes he was still doing the boat thing lol.
