    total trip in a multistop

    YES X 10

This is an essential feature IMO

Sure wouldn't be too bad, but I'm not too worried about it. I remember going through the Ozarks one time and all I did was zoom in quite a bit so I could see how the highway curved.

    Other ideas:

    - One button "show entire route"
    - Showing total mileage to each turn in the directions screen
    - You could get rid of the directions tab and incorporate it into the bar at the top, since clicking on it does nothing anyways
    - Add more resolution to the volume function (10% steps instead of 20%)
    - Adding up the mileage in the directions still doesn't add up to the real mileage(on the main navigation screen)
    - The bar on the bottom of the navigation screen, that shows you either the city, cross road, or highway you're on, I wouldn't mind if this one "saved" the last setting. I always have it on city to help me with my logbook, yet every time I boot the thing up I need to change it back to city.

You have to remember that the TND looks at all road segements. In the mapping data it does not see I-80, it sees all the segements along I-80. more like a 500 piece puzzle. Each segement has a speed assigned in the mapping data.

The ETA adjustment was tried several ways and it may take a few trips to adjust your TND to your style of driving. We tried % and given numbers, but the way it is build is more accurate.

Rand is looking at different ways to add to this ETA.

    Thanks,
    mark

Oh I understand completely as to what you are saying, & yes I agree, videos should not be able to be viewd while the vehical is in motion. From what the Mrs is telling me, the unit(s) that are from Chian that she is aware of, have some kind of biult in feature in them that lock out any video, mp3, mp4 files from being accessed or played. She says the unit must be still for like 10 minutes or so before they can activate those features. Again, I do not know first hand, just acording to her ;)

a small request--the ability to have the unit shut off automatically when it loses the external power. It could have a choice to continue running on battery or just let it automatically shut off. The feature could be disabled in the settings menu if this option is not wanted.

So back on June 2nd my TND500 went fubar and would not boot up. Called R.M. support and was told that I would have to send the unit back and they would send me a prepaid return label. Posted my problem on this forum and after direct communication with Mark, he sent me a SD card overnight which restored the unit and I was back up and running in less than 48 hours. Great job Mark!

The TND500 has been working great since that time. Today, June 29th, I found an envelope in my mail from Rand McNally... It was the return label! It took them over 3 weeks to get it to me!!! If I did actually have to send the unit back, by the time they received it and sent out a replacement, I would have been without a working GPS for at least a month and a half or more!

Sorry, but I do not consider this to be good customer service or product support. Thankfully, I did not have to send my GPS back.

Mark, I know you monitor this forum closely. I hope you have contacts at R.M. that you can pass this appalling experience on to. Hopefully they clean up their act.

I have found that if you use a gps as much as I do... you'd better have a back up. I don't "depend" on it but use it more of a "are we there yet" device. Or, where's the next truck stop. etc.

Gears and Mark Kling Thank this.
