You are thinking of the one in Casper. Not Evanston.
Evanston is easy to avoid. Just roll right on in like you always would.
Park and walk in with your papers. How ever the bathrooms are BEFORE
you get to the officers checking in the trucks. When leaving the bathrooms
forget to talk to the officers and hit the exit.
Not that I've ever done that. But I've seen it done.
I've also seen guys that roll right straight thru the parking lot and out the exit
without even stopping. Nearly every visit I made thru that port you'd
see at least one jumping the scale right under their nose.

Seems to happen at Cheyenne alot. -
Scale jumping???
I'm not surprised there either. -
You bet.
And some do not even get out of the truck. -
Its easy enough to do. They don't watch the lot that close.
If its busy the odds of getting caught are really low.
Because of where I live I ran the frontage road past the west bound cheyenne 80 one.
All the yrs I've lived here I've only once seen them waving trucks in off the frontage road for inspections. -
I ran some mileages using Kalamazoo,MI to Ontario,CA
80-15 2175
80 70 15 2112
80 55 70 35 54 40 2197
80 55 44 40 2205
If your taking the southern routes it's only 5 miles farther to run through Des Moines and down than it is to run down through St. Louis. All the mileages are pretty close, take your pick. I would probably take the southern route in the winter though

Early this spring weatherunderground was forecasting a bad storm moving through Utah and Colorado on 70, so I opted for the southern route of 15-40-44-55-80 to return from bakersfield back to MI. Well I avoided the snow only to run into several tornado's from Tulsa, OK all the way to St. Louis, MO. Suddenly having to throw chain didn't sound so bad anymore.
