    Howdy!

    Well, my chief says we're not truckers, but I say that we are... I drive a 35-40' hi-rail track inspection truck. We spend almost as much time on the road as we do the rails... (I have a class A CDL, and swindle sheets to boot... even though we are not a "motor carrier"... we dont carry crap,
    except our fixed equipment and luggage..) BTW: he sits in the back when we are on the rails and in the passenger seat on the road...

    oh gheese does this mean I have to change my handle from "Firehound" to "Short Bus"?


    but in other news I DID make it up the Grapevine... at 15mph...

    That was SRS 814 on the Caltrain in downtown San Francisco.

    I did the Metrostink, the Caltrain, Alameda Trench, Portland OR light rail, Minneapolis Light Rail, Iowa Northern, some mining roads up on the Iron Range in Northern MI and MN. I spent most of my time on SRS 991 and 992. I tested about 3/4 of the KCS. Stared out on old 124. Got lotsa stories and pics!!

    Best one is probably this one, on the old Milwaukee road:
