Well, hubby had decided he will not be trucking into California any more. Enough is enough. He watched a highway patrol fellow go zooming after a speeding trucker, then, decide to drop back and check out the license plate of the truck that was quite aways ahead of hubby. Hubby had talked to this fellow at a truck stop, and knew he was Cdn. The cop pulled the guy over and gave him a ticket. Hubby plodded along, not speeding, and farther along a highway patrol fellow came roaring in on an onramp, then made to pass hubby, then dropped back. Hubby figured he was checking out the Cdn. license plate and waited. Yup, hubby was pulled over, and given a speeding ticket even though he was not speeding. Hubby asked if Cdn. and out of state truckers were being targetted. Cop replied the state was broke and they had to make money somehow.

I find this hard to believe.

I run California quite often... And I'm a out of state trucker to them as well. If he was indeed doing the speed limit & obeying the laws.... Then there is no justification for a ticket... I play by the book in Cali. Cruise set on 55 mph (although I can go much faster). I stay in the right 2 lanes. And my log book is always current.... Never had an issue!

Now, if this story is true.... Then I would highly suggest that you battle it in court.

I don't really buy this one either. I have CA tickets, but I have been speeding when they pull me over for it. As far as Canadians not wanting to run CA, I'm fine with that stay in Canada. When we run out of things to do we will bring it to you. Theres no difference between Canadian trucks and Mexican trucks, except the Mexicans aren't complaining about having work.

So if your hubby don't want to come down here don't think there will be any spilt milk over it. Because I won't go to Canada. I don't complain, but I won't go there.

now i can understand why anyne would not want to run cal, i quit running out there about 10 years ago but i must confess not for the same reasons. i run old trucks , thats all i run and there epa standars are just to much for me and there getting worse my old trucks wont meat there standars no way no how and to me to pay 150.000 for a truck is insane so i just don't run california i don't have to so i don't.

now as far as the law is concearned i run out there for years and never had a problem but i no what there laws are and if it says 55 even though i hate that speed limit i do 55 simply because i no there serious about it and id rather keep the fine in my pocket.

ive made some #### good money in that state and quite frankly i miss running out there but i choose not to comply witrh there epa laws there nuts but that is just me.

but in reality i've been helped by cal hp more then anything else. depends on the attitude i guess.

my best to all. southernpride :biggrin_25514:

I believe you because I've deadheaded to some far away places, the
longest deadhead had to be either from Oxnard, CA back to LA, or
    LA to Boston, MA.

When I say LA I mean Louisiana not Los Angeles which is L.A.

I see lots of people get that confused or use L.A. to mean Louisiana.

Sorry. I just don't buy that. There are plenty of trucks and cars out there in CA speeding all the time. A CHP doesn't have to target a legal vehicle to make a quota. You want a real eye opener? Do a ride along with ANY police agency and watch all the silly antics displayed right in front of you! It's a target rich environment!
I run CA with no problem. I do 55, keep in the right two lanes and take my time. It is rare I pass another truck, but I am CONSTANTLY passed by others! Maybe hubby doesn't want to fess up and blames CA and their budget problem.

Folks, I live in this fruitcake land! And trust me, I believe it. Why, because I have seen the CHP ticket for things here that are simply UNBELIEVEABLE!! Like giving a person a ticket for not having headlights on, in a supposed daylight headlight zone... when you hadn't entered said zone yet.. or a ticket for ostructing traffic, when you are in a school zone going 20 mph and there are children EVERYWHERE!! Sorry, but I live here, and see it every freaking day.
