Does anyone know anything about Land Air Express of New England? not the crappy TL carrier, the LTL carrier out of Vermont. I took a job offer with them here in Buffalo, and am running linehaul at night starting at a decent hourly wage with ot over 40.

I know they are part of the reliance network, that interlines a bunch of regional carriers for better service, but other than that, I don't see much.

the run they are offering to me is buffalo to syracuse, with a future chance to pull turnpike doubles. its only 310 round trip, how will i get my 8 hours in when pulling this? two turns a night? dockwork at night? some p&d in the morning?

I talked to another guy who said its hard to get hours at laxne on linehaul becaues of the spacing of the terminals. The tm said otherwise though, and said i would have no problem pushing my 60 hour limit every week. so what is it? i dont want to take a job that i wont get enough hours at, but is it possible that this guy who told me that has made his tm's #### list?

I had the chance to run doubles on mass pike too.you would run doubles to syracuse and back to where they drop their doubles hook up and drive back to buffalo.I'm not sure about 2 turns you will have to ask.no dock work as far as i know i never did anyway unless they have changed, you get paid by the hour not miles you will run to atleast 3 to 4 terminals in one night if not pulling doubles and have the time to do so.i never had any problem getting 40 hrs plus overtime in the summer and before christmas you will run your butt off, then it slows down in jan like most places but you still get atleast 35 hours until freight picks up in around march.trust me the hours are there if you want them some drivers just don't want to work.they always treated me well and are a good stable company.they have how long it should take to get to all the terminals written down as long as you make within that window your fine plus they give you an hour before your considered late unless you break down or weather.if the weather is bad in winter and you don't feel safe driving you tell them no and no questions are asked they take safety seriously.I was no 3 on the seniority list alot of the old timers we retiring in springfield before i got injured in my accident back in 08,i hope to return to land air once my shoulder heals in 2011.hopefully this will be my last and final shoulder surgery ive had 2 already it happened while driving linehaul for land air in vermont.good luck i hope it works out for you,if you have any questiond just ask.jimmyboy

thanks guy, i was wondering about that buff to syracuse run. he was asking me if i had ever pulled doubles before.

if i am not pulling doubles, they might send me to other terminals for linehaul? that would make more sense, if i had a turn at albany every night, that would be a GREAT run!

so with pulling doubles, i should have no problem getting my 8 in for a turn in syracuse? and if im waiting for my set to be ready, im getting paid on the clock?

yes they will send you to other terminals, yes your getting paid every hour you sit waiting for your set to be ready.you will get some good hours hauling doubles not sure about the extra pay for pulling doubles you will have to ask, buffalo is a huge hub for all land air's freight.your doubles are usually ready for you when you come in for work they load those first before anyone else.

The linehaul driver have a hard time getting many hours. even more so now.. The are restructuring there linehaul system so the the linehauls get back earlier so that dock workers can get the pand d trucks loaded and out at a descent time.. Better off doing p and d if you want the hours..
