Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Well, you're their to serve the touring public, right? The hosts hire your company to drive, so you need to accomidate them in every way. Did any blue hairs give you their room key? Just curious........

This was moved into the "Trucker Jobs" category, but I need to hear from those who have been driving for a while and currently driving. Need to make a decision this week. Thanks (and thanks for not moving this).
Well, after having been out of it a year, I'm making the decision to get back into it - either van or flatbed, whatever comes along.
Drove charter tour bus for the last 10 months and when I was driving on 11 day tours it was good. Great money, most meals free, clean clothes and own motel room every night. The problem?? The on-board tour guides. Take the worst mentor you've heard of and multiply the pain by 10. I have never met such a bunch of egotistical, arrogrant and abusive people. What a bunch of premadonnas! Time to be on my own, again.
Anyway, I am really tired of the games and surprises.
Talk to me. Tell me where to go. Keep in mind I have only 8 months with a semi with a year off till now. Not all companies will look at that.
Thanks very much for your input. -

I'm with you Windjammer...I've been off the road since Dec 09..It's only been 7 months but I'm ready to hit the road again too. I only had 7 months driving for GTI last year and thought being home would be better....not. I went back in the auto parts business and never realized how unbelievable these people are..talking about premadonnas..OMG...Money's about the same as the road but I have to take Excedrine every day cause I have a headache...I'm thinkin Swift cause they're so big..I'm just not sure yet...good luck man.

Swift is who/what drove me out of the business a year ago. Do your homework. Many promises.....
Big isn't always best. My WIFE even agrees!

Yeah I hear ya...I was with a good company as far as starter co's go, and they had their problems too. I got shuffled around and wanted to go on their SW fleet..they said no..a few weeks later I quit and low and behold they had a position on that fleet..I was already fed up and left...It seems like they all have issues and very few are honest..who and what do u believe..hmmm

With only 8 months otr exp, you will probally have to go through the school again, training.
-
It depends on who you go to also...if it was 3 years ago..sure, but not last year and with over 80000 miles driven...if they tell you that then they just want to make some money off you...

I'm working for a great team company now, But I would like to go solo. Looking for long cross country miles, drop-n-hook, paper logs, no pencil whipping, and no issues like idling, taking truck home, safety tests ect..., I have 5yrs experience, haz mat, clean dmv, dont need allot of time off, no chaining experience, and dry box and reefer experience. Any Ideas? And I have a mail box in texarkana, TX and I need to get to michigan once per year.
