    Oh man!! Some of those loaners can be super pig sties. The last one I had, the "Incredible ManPig" had used. Pee bottles, scum on the windows/mirrors, filthy bedding, and a cpap machine with pondscum growing on it were there. This creep was a fifteen year employee with all kind of awards on his grease laden jacket he'd left as well.:biggrin_25510:

    I havent been in the business long, but I do know that just like anywhere else, there are bad eggs. It would be easy to say that its a bad company, and to warn everyone, but thats just not the truth. Im only 24, but my DBL maybe had a year or two on me, and was just a young, ####y, little guy. We were at odds ever since my first day because he was the type that assumed truck drivers were uneducated, and dispensable. I have a 4 years degree in IT. Like I said, I just love to drive. On thing that got my blood a bit hot was the latest loaner I had. A 2009 Cascadia. He told me that he would be able to let me keep that truck so I moved EVERYTHING out of mine and into it. Just over 100,000 miles on her. I parked her at the OC for home time, and went home. I was back at the OC after my 34 hr break only to find my truck gone. I went in to talk to my DBL only to see all of my stuff beside his desk, and for him to tell me that it was only a loaner and that I was completely mistaken, when I KNOW he said I could keep it and to move into it. That was when he told me my truck was still in the shop, and that he was putting me in a loaner. I told him no, and to call me when my truck was ready. 5 Days after it was ready, I had to put it back in the shop, and began the process of finding a new company. Too much drama, too soon for me.

    I just left Schneider, had enough of that. Thinking about trying the local thing for awhile.
    Orange wasn't too bad, there are worse places to work, I just didn't care for the home time. That is about my only major complaint.
    I ran a dedicated route, home every 9-10 days, but only for a resatart. So basically it really amounts to 1 day off, if you think about it.
    Home on friday or wednesnight, about 9PM, and headed back out friday or sunday morning-after about 35-36 hours off. Just not enough time to do squat.
    And if I got caught up in traffic on the way home, sometimes I got less than 34 hours off !!!
    Not my cup of tea, life IS too short, you folks can it--I have a life to live.

    falconer; Although it's a bit of a negative post, YOU still seem to have a decent attitude. And that's where a lot of guys fail, lack there of I mean. This isn't for everyone, but you sound determined to make it work.
    My hat is off to you, you will succeed.

    From your first post, I thought you may have had a jerkwater for a DBL. It's too bad those things happened.

    That DBL you had likely won't last long, at least it would be hoped not. But he sure boned you.

    Have you found anything yet?

    Good luck to ya. I can tell you a couple companies I was with for a while that I wouldn't recommend to a dead dog, but won't right now. I will say that one has Big Blue trucks, and the other red trucks with autoshifters!!!:biggrin_25525:

    Ya, I was on the Canada fleet out of Taylor Mi for CFI. Most of us would leave Sunday afternoon, and be home Friday evening. So I know what you're saying about off time. Sounds like you've found that local driving is better. I've never had that option. I was on the homerun program, 2 weeks out, 1 in. that's the best I've ever had it.:biggrin_25525:

    One could only imagine eh?. It wasn't just the filth he left either. The truck had quite a few things the DOT would have liked to have seen as well. I got those taken care of, on HIS truck, while MINE was in the shop. :biggrin_25510:

    Here is a hint,
    when you are assigned a different truck, and there is a possibility that the former driver may have used illegal drugs.

    Any law enforcement agency, if you explain the situation, will be happy to have their drug sniffing dog check your truck for you !!!!!

    I recovered a truck once, and it smelled like that whacky tobacky. I asked the DOT man (by telephone) what to do, he turned me on to this !!!!!!

    Cause if somebody left something in the truck, it is now in YOUR possesion !!

    Lol - Well I too have been with the Big Blue, and left because they forced me to team with a guy that woke me up at every highway interchange and turn asking where to go. They "Didnt have any solo positions". And, unfortunately apparently, my next stop is in Tunnel Hill, GA for orientation with a company that has red trucks with auto shifters! Im on an account that is out for 5 days and home for 2, so Im told. In the end, I didnt burn any bridges with SNI, and my operations manager said they would be happy to have me back anytime. Im certainly not happy with the situation, but Im not bitter about the company, Id recommend it to anyone.
