Just another example of stupid beancounter crap the fmcsa has pulled on us.
the 14 hour rule has put me into SO MANY positions of, "well im not tired but i cant drive legally" and "Well im tired as hell but i can drive legally, and company expects me to"....come ON...

The problem with the split is that, at some point, you will want or need to drive the 11 hours without the split. Before you can do that, you will have to take 10 hours off all together. If you've been doing the split, taking 10 consecutive hours off will cause you to lose time overall.
-
Why would you want or need to drive a straight 11? It's all one in the same really, you need ten hours total whether it's all at once or split in two. It's just that sometimes splitting in two will allow you to make a delivery or pickup that you otherwise wouldn't have been able to get.

So does cheating my logbook
-
I haven't read all these messages but the above log is legal and correct! -
WOW someone actually understands the importance of split breaking, I like your attitude, I must of trained you as I seem to be the only log auditor that teaches it l.o.l.
For those who refuse to learn it, well it's their loss of money/late deliveries, I understand some just can't get it, but have you really really tried to learn it???
I love teaching it and will try to get back on here more often for those who want to learn it, I have came up with simple calculations and just to add split breaking is very very simple, you drivers have been programmed it's not worth it, it's hard because someone doesn't want to take the time to teach it and they have the lack of understanding the importance of a driver using it. It only benefits the company to!
Everett Thanks this. -
The 8 hour SB plus 2 hour SB gives him 10 hours off-duty.
All time except 8 hours SB counts toward the 14 hour clock.
The driving time from when he started until he took his 2 hour break must be less than 11 hours.
The on-duty time from when he started untile he took his 2 hour break must be less than 14 hours.
Once he took his 2 hour SB break the 11/14 clock is recalculated from the end of the 8 hours in the SB.
Be safe. -
I thought they did away with the split sleeper and you had to have 10 consecutive hours in the sleeper.
-
I just looked into the Driver Daily Log Thanks for the hint on that one I am going to go ahead and bag the 50.00 bucks, cheaper than a DOT shutdown, or any violation. Just have one silly ### question, do you print them off and send them to Safety? and If you are asked to see your logs can you pull them up and DOT accepts them?
-
They must be printed each day and signed.
