Phroziac lots of ads in the local paper for many companies big and small lately-OTR and local.
actually hubby has no real gripes so far. So far...he's making decent CPM per what I read on here actually higher end of the scale from what I read on here. Is on a dedicated route home every (almost) weekend. Could be alot worse. FM is a good guy. His DC is small so they know him by name/face. They actually now are giving him loads closer to home when he comes home. Last weekend they actually switch a load for him so it was closer. So again no major gripes. Hey from all your posts I read about Weiner -boy you got shafted big time- he has it made! It's a bottom feeder but not that bad.

Musicgal you work for USX too?

Thats funny, JB doesnt even advertise here anymore!
But tell me...with all these unemployed drivers..why would anyone have to advertise a job? Tell me.

If I could answer that one phroz......
    no idea.
maybe some bottom feeders can be more selective. Especially when I keep reading all the posts on here where newbies or exp drivers go to orientation and are let go (not counting the ones who did not disclose stuff!)
Economy is starting to tank again so I think more and more will be out of work in the next few months.

BTW: You start the new job tomorrow right??? GOOD LUCK!! Sounds SO much better for you! You'll have to start a new thread so we can follow your new travels.

Unfortunately, NO, I don't start today. I was originally led to believe that it would be possible, and I left werner last week with the intention of taking a week off... But noope, it got down to the wire and I'm going to have to go next monday. Oh well. I finally got the motorcycle back together.

    I'll start a new thread.

USX policy is teaming now. But u may get lucky and live in a certain area that a team partner does not reside in. Than u can go solo. But those r far few and between. I don't want to go into details....but i have been with them for 9 months and in 3 months im gone. Things are gettin bad here. Mileage dropped from 2800 to less than 1400 week. And they have the freight. I hear that its goin to owner ops and lease drivers. Cant wait to get outa here. There driver tech computers are really bad. A former employee uploaded a (virus) to a main term and screwed up everything. (i was told from a technician at a term) i guess the dis gruntled employee left the cd in the drive to run all night in the wee hrs and wrecked havoc. Started a few weeks ago. i have been to 4 terminals to hv fixed and they say they cant fix them. All the can do is replace the whole unit and theyre on b/o. One of the techs told me theyre only installing the new drvr tech in the new trks. If i didnt have my own gps..id be screwed. Hold times are so frickin bad 1 hr plus to get ahold of FM. This is a DAILY issue ! the only people i can get on the phone is payroll....because im always calling them to ask why im not gettin paid on jobs, scale tickets, taxis (wen trk is broke down, hotels) toll roads that are not covered by ezpass etc. I can spend 3hrs + on the phone on hold. I have been sitting here for 3 hrs waiting for trlr# and pickup#. I was given this pp last night. They still do not hv info. and i cant get in to p/up ld w/out it. This is a norm. It was good when i started...last 3 months it has gone down hill fast. Just beware. Im sure there are drivers w/out issues...however, i was at term for 3 days waiting for 2 tires to be replaced. I spoke with many drivers in that time. I couldnt find but one driver who was happy and he was a owner oper. 4 drvrs alone were turning in their trks. All co. drivers. No ####. Thats not good. i had the opportunity to talk to all of them. all the issues were what i mentioned plus not gettin home. one drv said they took 4 days to get him home when he was 85 miles from home. he told them 3 days prior that a family member was in hospital. His family member died 1 day before he was to get home. he said that was the last straw. Just beware drvrs.

USX hiring solo out of Virginia as well. In another thread I'd posted about how (my) CDL school encouraged an application zerg, and U.S.X. was one of the companies I had initially applied for. They had solo 48 and solo dedicated (tractor supply for my area) sp they claimed, but also told me that it depended on what was open when your training was done and I got the feeling that if they said the dedicated account was available for me after training they would've tried to stick me wherever they wanted. I didn't want that kind of chaos (and a potential DAC mark right off the bat) so I passed on them.

3 weeks of training is a pipe dream I am in my sixth week sent everything in for my upgrade to solo was an hour away from Tunnel Hill, you would think a drop off would be feasible but nope its off to Virginia the complete opposit direction. And the only ones who do all 48 are teams and teams only solo have two areas eiither east of I-35 or west of I-35 it all depends on where you live.

My trainer lives on I35 and his loads are all east of it. Referring to the solo deal, I just did all of my finishing tests and finished on Friday it only took a couple of hours, real easy and I had my truck assignment less then an hour after I was finished. I think if you don't do so great on the road test or the other tests they will put you as a team because the other guy that I tested with lit up the brakes at a stoplight, (smoke and stank)and he was put in a team. So thats my take on it all. Just take it easy on the road test and study the student manual questions really good and you'll have no problem.
