I have a judgment suspension that ended in 08 but most companies want it to be at least 3 years old. Does anyone know if there is a way to get it removed and quickly instead of waiting until 2011? My license was reinstated in 2004 but my MVR shows 2008 because they say I only had driving privlages. Any help would be great!
Is it possible to get a suspension removed from my MVR?

First I'd get it cleared up when you say it's from 04 but listed as 08. What's that all about? I'd get a letter because if you were suspended in 04 and only for awhile then most companies won't even look at it unless it's 3 years or newer. Even so there's some companies that might take a look at you if you explain what happen a little better than you did here. I don't mean any harm by that just be honest on the application and do not lie. I don't believe it's a career ender unless you have other junk piled on top of that. Start looking now for companies and look yourself and take no recruiters word for anything. Take the word from the company and no one else.

Off hand I don't think that you will be able to get it expunged but you may be able to get the dates corrected. And you may want to include more detail because what the suspension was for can make a difference. An employer may not worry to much about it if its for something like nonpayment of child support. But if it something like racking up 12 points in two months then yea the knocking sound you hear isn't opportunity... its the nails being hammered into the coffin.

Sorry the details weren't very clear or there at all, I was posting from my phone.
Anyhow, I was in an accident in 2000 that Progressive hosed me on. They only covered about a 3rd of the cost of damages. So I'm stuck with about a $20k bill owed to the insurance company of the property that was damaged. The insurance company could place a judgment suspension on my license if I couldn't make the payment arrangement. In 2002 I was working as a mechanic and business got so slow I was barely able to pay my regular bills and missed a couple payments. About October, they suspended my license because of the missed payments. In the meantime, I started going to school full-time to get a degree in architecture, so I had no income to speak of. About September 2004 I was able to resume payments on the judgment and was able to get my license reinstated. I got my CDL in 2005 and my license has been valid since 2004.
I ran my MVR and got my DAC report recently, both say my license was suspended until 2008. I contacted the BMV and they said that my license was suspended, but I had driving privileges. That doesn't make sense to me since as far as I knew, in Ohio you can't get your CDL while under suspension. I have tried contacting them again to see if it's possible to get the suspension removed from my record since I'm keeping up on payments and so I can get a job to replace the one I'm about to loose because of the economy. But they have not returned my calls and emails yet.
About the only way the suspension is going to come off right now is if I wait until Oct. of this year for the state, and I think 2011 for any place else like insurance companies. And I also don't think it will go away any time soon while I'm still making payments on the accident.
All of this info has been told to various companies, recruiters, and who ever would talk to me. About the only place that would give me the opportunity to drive was USA, but I had a feeling that when I went through the driving school for a "refresher" or get all the way to truck assignment, they would send me home because of this issue. So I kindly told them thanks, but no thanks. My family can't afford to take that risk.
I hope this explains things better. If not, I'll answer any questions. And thanks so far. -
You will not be able to get the suspension removed from your record. It was put into place to keep you honest and to hold you liable for the damages incurred.
Do you have other violations such as the accident and speeding listed on your MVR?
Most trucking companies will allow 3 violations, as long as they are not careless reckless (speeding in excess of 15/mi over the posted speed limit). -
No other accident related offenses on my MVR. Any of that would have fallen off years ago, but there wasn't anything then either.
I got a bogus ticket last August for driving on a closed road and tried to fight it, but it ended up costing more to try to fight it than if I were to just pay it. The road to my house was closed for construction, but was open to local traffic. It was the only way to my house from the direction I was traveling, unless I wanted to go 5 miles out of the way to get to the other side of the road work. The cops had probably 20+ people stopped that I'm sure didn't live in that direction. And I would imagine those people used the "I live on XXXXX, so I'm local" line so much that the people like me that were telling the truth got a ticket anyway and left to fight it in court. Even still, that ticket was 2 points.
Before that I hadn't had a ticket for anything since 2002 when I got hit with the judgment suspension. I try very hard not to get anymore dings on my record. -
how can a license be suspended but still have driving privileges?
also.. anyone know if suspensions look different based on the reason for it? or does an unpaid ticket or such as this guys trouble show the same as a suspension for DUI?
