I heard that TMC just started started putting PREpass and EZ pass in there trucks again about a month ago. What are the trucks at Maverick set at? Do you run paper logs?

Mavericks trucks, unless something has changed recently, run anywhere between 62-70 depending on fuel mileage. They used to run 70 all the time but when fuel got extremely high they had to give the guys an incentive to get better fuel mileage. Ironically their fuel bonus, which was easy to achieve, wasnt enough for most guys to quit excessive idling and learn better driving habits but once Maverick put in the sliding speed program they got real interested in getting better fuel mileage ,lol. Maverick dont ask alot just 6.5 mpg which is easy in the freightliners they drive. Currently Maverick runs paperlogs but they are matching them to your qualcomm due to the CSA rules that are coming and the expectation of a final rule mandating on board recorders for all trucks. So might as well get used to it old timers, like it or not we ALL will be running strictly legal in the not so far future. -- Missouri Kid

Since you seem to be a recruiter, more than a driver. I work for a Valley Bulk, However Double Eagle and West Coast (a division of Bulk,Inc.) pay is exactly the same as ours, There is Cemex, CPC, Valencia (and the list goes on), and that pays there drivers more but they do not take there trucks home and to me thats important.

Depends on what you mean bu limited, make 60K+ per year ( we have driver that are in the 70+ but I don't work weekends) and go home several night per week , off on the weekends. Yup sounds limited. You Morons that believe your going to get something for nothing are going to get exactly what you deserve.

Lease or Purchasing a good idea. Save your nickles, do your home work. Go to a truck dealer and buy or lease. But know your cost have your own CPA telling you what your doing right and wrong. Save your money into your own savings accounts )we call it a contingency find). Because in business like in life, if you don't plan your future someone else will.

If your a driver your in the right place to track expense for the truck, write them down for the next 6 months, every penny see where it goes oil, fuel, tires, road calls, lumpers, toll's... Its going to come out between 50 and 60 cpm.... Track it and finds out. I keep track of ever dime spent on my truck, fuel etc... and have for several years. In the last month I had to get 6 tires, 4 were road calls this stuff aint cheep. We do alot of mine driving so I go thru tire more than average but its still money spent on the truck I would have to cover as a L/O.

I'm not against drivers making money I'am against recruiters using this or any other board to rip off drivers. If no money lease's were not a great thing for the company why do all the bottom feeders offer them, Yeah because it's good for the driver, NOT....

Last item you think being a NO MONEY DOWN Lease operator is being your own boss, you have another thing coming. Start turning down loads and you will quickly find out. If your in the drivers seat you are not the boss, Get Real....

Dont think a slow response is necessarily an indication that we are not going to respond, some of us are not trolling for newbies to take advantage of. The purpose of us is to make sure they know there is high odds people like you are giving out very bad advice.

My advice is always the same, take it to an attorney, if he approves it take it to a CPA, if he approves it, take it to your banker if he turns it down so shoud you. Bas risk is bad risk. Do your home work and don't get ripped off by loud mouthed recruiters trolling the internet.

So put that in your fuel tank. Im done. You want to lease just read all the horror stories right here and then tell your self they all did something wrong, I'm not like them. You be back just the same and tell us all that a big bad trucking company ripped you off.

Im not a recruiter Im a driver. Im on here to give honest answers to honest questions. I have my own cpa thank you and if you want an attorney to look over the contract you can request a copy for that. Maverick makes money off me,sure, but its like the other driver said if you think your company aint makin money off you then you're not livin in reality. I prefer leasing because I can quit anytime I need to if something emergency comes up without having to worry about a truck note. Plus lease payments are 100% tax deductible where a loan is not. You said you do mostly mine driving so Im guessing you probably are union which means you dont live in the real world. Look what happen to the steel mills and car companies and see your future.

Leasing may not be for everyone but could me good for someone. You would need to look at the pros and cons of both and see what would fit your wants and needs. I myself have owned a small company and been a company driver would look into the leasing programs. Just like with everything in life look before you jump.

I am interested in Maverick's L/P program. How is it now in 2012, how's the freight? I am also in Missouri (St. Louis area) what are the lanes like around St. Louis?
