Truck Abandonment

You said it all right there, I had an issue with a company putting things on my dac that was not true. I had gotten into a little argument with the FM (she was/is a horrible person) I then was got into a argument with LP manager after that. (i think they was dating and was trying to keep the company from knowing) Well to make things Short after I quit they put on my DAC that I had a unsatisfactory safety record.
I had no accidents
Out of 13 DOT inspections I had no write ups except may be a trl out or something similar (top lights).
I only had 2 log violations in a year (and they was very week reasons at that)

They had no reason to put that on my DAC except out of retaliation for our argument. I had it removed threw a rebuttal but it still took me almost 2 months.

I think they should have to prove their negative information "BEFORE" a company can put negative things on your dac.

 

I've heard that story, I'm from Minnesota. Not a smart move. the company I work for had a cuple drivers do that. One hit a low underpass, and drove the truck back to the office and left it parked with freight in it. The other who knows what happened to him.
Who knows how much $$$$$ is in the back of one of those trucks. If you just leave it and something gets stollen, are you going to pay for it?

 

when I owned trucks I had a guy bail on the truck with a trainee in it. We didn;t train but he was a friend and only had a learners permit. the guy pulled up to the airport and hoped out and left the unlicensed trainee and truck sitting there at the drop off terinal. This same guy earlyer in the week was kicking the trainee out of the truck in winter conditions to get some lot lizard action and had stoped the truck to sleep on the shoulder of the interstate ad the sholuder was only three feet wide.
Why don't companies hire someone who abandons a truck?? because the kind of person who does that does these other things too.


On another note. I had a local job once who constantly pushed to run over hours and over weight hauling recycables to the dumps. Finally after 15 hours of driving I told them I wouldn't take the next load they wanted me to take. I drove the tuck back to the parking spot and put the keys in the battery box(which is where I got them from) I found out some time later they reported me as abandoning the truck.

 

ALSO be aware; DAC/USIS has a reputation for pulling information out of their backsides and placing this on drivers records as well.

DAC placed on MY record that I was ticketed in Arizona for Operating with-in 4 hrs of consuming alcohol.

I have NEVER got a ticket for that in ANY state, and even though I got that error removed, I am currently seeking legal counsel with the purpose filing a suit against DAC for damages. DAC claimed they got this information from the "Department of Courts" in Arizona. There is NO SUCH "Department" in Arizona.

 

T'is one of the biggest "No-No's" out there. Something like that'll go on one's DAC report, and make life tough if he wants another driving job. Who'd want to hire a driver that'd done that? I agree with the others that the DAC is messed up at best, but co's DO look at it. The primary gripe that a company would have over truck abandonment is the cost of retrieving it, and possible liability accrued because of it being left unattended.

 

Truck abandonment is a very serious thing because if other companies see that on your DAC no company will hire you because they figure if you abandon that trk youll abandon theirs.It cost alot of money for trk companies to go recover the truck.They pay someone to pick up the trk,pay for fuel, hotel room ,ect and in some cases towing fee and storage.There are many good reasons why drivers abandon the equipment but unfortunately companies dont see it that way and don't want to hear the reason.All they see its you the drivers fault no matter what.
