Well I am back at the computer after being away for 8 days. I have an excellent trainer that knows how to teach without ripping at one's self esteem. I have learned quite a bit and enjoying meeting alot of Millis drivers. I hit a snag though in my training. I was having chest pains for a few days so when my trainer asked if he could get me back to the yard in Streator so I could go and get checked out, they told him to pull over right away and call 911. Before I knew it I was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. I am fine and I didn't have a heart attack but I do need to get in touch with my Dr. so they can find out why I am having these pains. I talked with Mike Millis and he said I am still with the company and not to worry and to get well and get checked out. So, you see this company will take care of you. Now all I have to hope for is that the Drs. can find out the source of these chest pains and hope its not a career ending issue. I want to be back in the truck but I also don't want to a liability out there and hurt myself or anyone else.
Ironman sorry but I don't have access to the internet on the road right now as my laptop took a dump. You have probably passed the test with no problems and are on the road with Woody as I type this. Hope you guys are having fun out there.

Tacodog, glad to hear you got a good trainer. That makes all the difference out there.
Also glad to hear that the company responded the way they did over the chest pains. Hope it's nothing major and that you can get back in the seat soon!
Better than the way my hubby got treated by the company he works for when he ended up getting hauled off in an ambulance because the truck stop manager thought he was having a stroke. Nasty headache that made his head feel like it was exploding. Shoulder injury and probably a pinched nerve in the neck. The only person he heard from within the company was his dispatcher. She dealt with everything. -
Dang that's too bad tacodog. I hope it's nothing serious and you're able to continue with Millis.

Tacodog...Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Hopefully, you'll be back in behind the wheel before you know it.
BTW, several years ago my wife was having chest pains and we thought (and so did she) she was having a heart attack. Turned out to be her gallbladder. Just an FYI. Hope your situation turns out to be minor.
Good Luck!

TD, hope you're doing well, and back in the saddle soon! IH and I just completed our three weeks at Richfield. Looking forward to getting through orientation next week then out with my trainer the week after. I have met him and I he seems like he will be a good match for me.
Take care of yourself. Hope to see you soon out on the road soon! -
Dont for get to text me after the results. If I get up towards Streator let's grab dinner or lunch or what ever!
Stay strong - it's only a temp set back! -
Thanks Baritone. I am anxious to get the results so I can get back out there.

Hope you get better, TD.
Not that I'm attempting any truck stop medical advice but figured I'd share something:
In my early 20's I started have some awful chest pains, bad enough that I on several occasions wondered if I was having a heart attack. My left chest/center chest area would just pound away and my left arm would get kinda tight and ache. Sometimes it would go into the right shoulder, upper arm area too. Swore up and down I was having heart issues and ER people were pretty convinced, too.
The enzymes test after every episode would always come back clean even though nitro seemed so calm the episodes. Wore a heart monitor for 3 weeks and no episodes ever recorded on it. Stress tests, ultrasounds, etc all passed.
Finally they sent me to a GI on a hunch. Found out I have IBS or one possible other thing I can't remember that's a kin to IBS but not exactly it. Now, most people with IBS have lower GI issues but mine were always on the upper end. My esophagus gets really bad spasms and kind of clenches up like muscle, that's when my chest hurts. Did some digging and found a lot of people diagnosed with this that were thought to initially have heart issues.
Certain foods make it worse, stressful times make it worse, certain alcohol, other things. Most of the time I can tolerate the flair ups. I have a little pill I can take if they get really bad. (One time I had the burps so bad I was having trouble breathing.) It's been over ten years now and all is fine. I know when it's coming and how to calm it down which keeps me calm.
Not saying this is what you have but maybe ask a couple of questions about it if they can't find anything with your heart. -
That's an interesting thought Angrysam. I will certainly ask them this question if nothing comes up with a heart related issue. Thanks!
