I know someone who drives the Yellowknife ice road every year. It is a private road (construction every year is paid for by the users--the diamond mines, etc.) and the owners/users were extremely unhappy about what they saw in the first season. I can't speak to anything specific as I've never watched the show, but as I understand it, the conduct was pretty disturbing to the mines and the History Channel was told, "no second season... ever."

I don't remember what they would have done so bad in the first season? TJ runs truck down here in the lower 48. Theres a driver off of you tube named sean suth he has run the ice roads. He mostly runs the lower 48. You can check him out seach you tube for seansuth one word. He tells what running the ice roads are really like.

Hugh is just a big mouth arrogant jack ###, i whish someone would put him in his place,Alex and the rest i can stand and in season 1 can can think of a bunch of things that would make the owners unhappy, fireing a bb gun out the window ,driving while lifting his litle weight and i could go on and on.

I don't like hugh myself. He is that type of driver that gives us good drivers a bad name. I think everything done on that show is done for the non driving public. Everything they do is told to be done by the discovery channel. Ever notice they have 2 cb radios that they talk on. It's all for show may be real driving but not real everyday trucker life.

They only have one CB. The other radio is VHF, the same setup as in my truck.

I like watching so I can bet on who is going to wreck first. I get a kick out of these hotshot drivers were all their thoughts are on going fast and beating the next driver. I've only seen a couple of good drivers and Hugh is not one of them. Even Alex gets careless at times. Jack in my opinion is the best out there and unlike Hugh he will stop if someone is broke down. I give Liza alot of credit because she has to work twice as hard and any little mistake she makes gets broadcasted all over. It's a shame they can't leave her alone and let her do her job.

And then you've got the great example Rick from the first season. He was Hugh's hire and he beat the cr*p out of the truck. I think he was too stupid to know the truck made him the money and when he broke down he lost money. He acted like a little kid when he couldn't get his way and was a good example of what not to do.

Hugh is an actor! I think the crew really antagonizes him to be that way. I'm with Jakebrake I80 can get pretty bad especially in Wyo. Plus we have to drive with rookies all over the place too! Oh yeah, and campers and four wheelers that fly by you and then spin out in front of you. It is pretty up there in Alaska though. Probably no long lines for the showers either.

that was NOT a bb gun in the first season, that was a ruger .22 pistol, and if i owned a mine and saw a tv network broadcasting ####### shooting at each other on my property, i would make sure that they never came back either.

In my opinion, i would put money on REAL drivers with lowboys loaded with "camera" trucks doing all the real driving. They put these morons in the fake truck on the lowboy, get it moving, and start filming. I'll beleive these guys drive when i see it. Some of the drivers are realistic, and could very well be real drivers, but i think lisa was just a ratings booster. Comon, how many decent looking truck drivers are there REALLY? possible, yes, likely, NO....
