watch out if you try that with USA Truck. Recruiter said it straight up pretty much. You go to orientation, decide they are not for you and you leave, get ready it will show on your DAC with a short term employment.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
If you decide to leave orientation ....

alot of companies have this practice now. they try to hold the dac over everybodies heads. the dac should be abolished or some kind of dac record for the companies that drivers fill out on them and for all the bad reports they get they get fined by dot. things would be alot different if drivers had some kind of leverage in this industry. drivers are at the mercy of these companies and it needs to stop.
trucker43 Thanks this. -
this is absoultey true. several years ago, in my first few years as a driver, i went to Davenport, Iowa, and PST flatbed. i didn't like the way each time the orientation instructor was asked, "how much time away from home" question, each time it was extended a few days, then into weeks on the road. i wanted (and so did the other guys there) to know EXACTLY how much time away from home would be. the orientation guy was evading that question way too many times.
when i got back to the motel room, i called several airlines and flew home, disgusted by PST's reversal in their hiring tactics. later, when i would apply for jobs, and before i even knew about DAC, it was reported I WAS A DRIVER, 48 STATES AND QUIT WITHOUT NOTICE.........!!
i called DAC to complain, and they made a re-buttal to my DAC. when PST went out of business, i had the whole PST report removed from the records. that can be done too by the way............. -
Yeah...Sharkey Transport did that to me as well...just another thing to explain to prospective employers who use DAC...
-
I have heard cases where it was used from an application where a driver never went to orientation but got his DAC dinged.
-
I've got 2 justifiable abondonments on my DAC and haven't had a problem getting decent jobs. Be upfront with your next employers and have a hand written explaination to give them on why you quit.
-
Now that's wrong, they should not be allowed to do that. Your on probation with a company for 3 months and in that time they can fire you for basically no reason, That should be at least the same for them in touching your DAC. Especially when there are more unreputable company's out there, then drivers ( well looks that way at times ).
Us drivers need to unite and start fighting back, standing up for one another. Fighting for the rights and the freedoms and defending of the American Trucker and the OOp's, "I have a dream"..... We need a new guy to lead for the truckers fairness acts and gear laws for the truckers. The one's who make life possible for the rest of the commoners. A true blue American diesel bully. I know I'm reaching here, but who are we going to nominate? Stand up to be seen, Speak up to be heard. :smt023 -
I would like to nominate TurboTrucker.
Mainly because he has lots of stars beside his name. -
Does the DAC apply to class B as well. I went to a local, "Hey drive for us for a year" companies training program and left after the third day.
I have had several local phone interviews that went great. And then it's like I have leprosy or something.
I will be really (long list of expletives deleted) unhappy if that is the case. -
I am not 100 percent sure, but all DAC is a gathering information center (a report card) there is no federal or state affiliation to the DAC. So, anybody who wants to run a DAC report to gather a commercial driver background can. Far as reporting I think if they have a DOT number they can report although I am not sure.
