"Discipline the whole group". Yeah, suspend the whole group, then who's gonna rescue next weeks beer?
Good god, they drank some beer. Soo?walleye Thanks this. -
What if it were a jewlery store, should the firefighters be able to help themselves to watches, rings, and funny little shinny things??
I dont agree in the guys being suspended who wernt there or the guys who didnt drink the beer, specially the guys mentioned who wernt even in town.
Im all for team spirit, but this little gesture is just a way for them to say"suspend one of us,we all are suspended"
then whatcha gonna do??
I support the fire dept, but not this time.
They stole and should be fired, not suspended.Brickman Thanks this. -
Why were they rescuing beer...
-
Hmm they stole huh? if the merchandise would have been lost without them then they did nothing wrong imho. Now had it been a jewelry store, the matter would be different as some of the precious metals could have been recovered/salvaged following the fire.
Thank them for doing their job, and that your establishment is still standing, even if slightly damaged. -
A decent person would not have made a big deal about it. I imagine these volunteers are alot like ours. The pay is the reason you do it. My last 16 years there I have made NOTHING.rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
Maybe we should take up a collection and send the money we raise to the fire department in question so they can have 1 hell of a party!
I appreciate the hard work and courage!
Takes a special kind of person to run into a building that everyone else is running out of!rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
Ethics is the problem here. Since they "stole" the beer there is an issue with ethics. "Rescuing" the beer did not give them leave to drink it. Since there were so many involved in it, it would appear there is a department-wide ethics problem that the chief has not addressed.
Rotating suspension, even for those guys out of town at the time, though.....overkill. And unnecessary. Next drill night, time to go over ethics issues.
Kind of reminds me of the time we went to a mobile home fire. The owner of the home had a lot of cats and some of them had not been accounted for. Just about the second this owner was fussing at the IC about it, here comes one of our LT's with a mostly burned cat leg in his hand, acting like he was at a great BBQ....licking his lips like he was about to take a big bite of cat leg. Naturally, the owner went ballistic, LT had some 'splainin to do and IC had to apologize profusely. The rest of us were having a really tough time trying to keep straight faces... -
Here kitty kitty kitty! -
I laughed out loud when i read the title so i had to check it out. It's funny but its also wrong at the same time. It's a real life version of the episode of the simpsons when Homer was a volunteer firefighter and was stealing segways and stuff like that.
