Are they any good? My exhaust housing is cracked. It's an MBN and Cat quoted $1200 for a new housing or $2000 for a reman turbo (part# 10R-1065) with core exchanged. They wanted $3200 for brand new! I can get it maybe a few hundred cheaper than that through a dealer. Or if anyone here has leads on somewhere cheap please let me know. I've never changed a turbo can somebody tell me after I put it on how do you "pre-lube" the bearing before starting the engine? Any other helpful tips are appreciated.

I have always heard NEVER use a rebuilt turbo. If it fails then your gonna have down time and lose money plus any additional parts, labor, tow etc. I would try to get the new one.

If your exhaust housing is cracked, they might not accept it for a core. Shop around, $3200 seems high for a new one.

I love my Michigan Turbo, there is no way you could get me into something else. The price for a turbo here locally was about the same as a Stage 5 from them, so I got a Michigan. Been happy ever since.

The advantage to using a Cat Reman turbo that if it fails, it is covered parts and labor if it is repaired in a Cat shop for one year. This is even if you put it on yourself (as long as you don't screw up the install). Now you can even buy extended coverage to protect that turbo up to 4 years, unlimited miles.

I got a brand new Borg/Warner turbo for my E model from these guys for about a grand shipped upon recommendation from Mr Haney. Not much info on the website, but their phone number is there, and the guy knows turbos.

Part# 478120, it replaced part# 198123, which was a reman. I love it, it's hard to beat for the money. It spools up a hair slow (which Mr Haney and Turbo Exchange both told me), but it's not bad at all. It keeps the EGT way down, even with my 600hp brakesaver ecm from Mr Haney. I have to really lug it down to get it to 1000 degrees. I put it on the same time as the ecm, and my fuel mileage improved roughly 4/10 mpg, hard to say if the turbo or the ecm made the bigger difference. It's supposed to be too big for a 475, but will work well with a 550. It does make the jake brake a hair weaker, so it might not be good if you run out west in high elevation a lot. It also moves the sweet spot in the rpm up a little. I looked up the invoice, it was actually closer to $1100. They have other options, call and talk to Andre, he was very patient and can explain your options in as much detail as you want.

Thank,s Josh,I've got the same ECM file from DDS and was looking for that turbo but ended up with a OR-7285 and I really like that combo,I've got new kw cac, fuel temp wire, straight pipes, but only the single under hood air breather in a 03 T-800 C-15 6NZ and my egt does get up to 1200 pretty quick and a lot of times even in a head wind I have to drop a gear and run 1700 rpm 60 mph to keep egt at 900. I did get a donaldson premium air filter and my restiction gauge doesn't move, I have got a 800hp marine cam and 58's I was going to put in yet but think if I could get my egt down might leave for a bit. I have talked to MR. H about the pdi 2 and that will probably be my next step, I'm not doing much trucking for the next 2 month's so I'm going to put in a 4 core rad, I do haul 139000lb and do very much like the power but have to get my egt down,so guy's any advice or input would be very much appreciated. TKS in advance
