There are better companies out of Denver that you should look at. Spirit Express, Denny Transport, even in the Springs there is one or two.

I am a trainer(mentor) for May out of the Denver terminal. In my experience I have found May to be good to work for. I have found that a good attitude goes a long way at May.

Denver has freight gong out all the time. Both dry and refer. There is no problem getting in or out of Denver lately. And to be honest, you will get through Denver more often on the refer side. It just happens that way.

The poster that said you get paid after every trip and there is no direct deposit is wrong. The pay week runs Wednesday to Tuesday by midnight. We then get paid on Thursday. You get paid for every completed trip that you scan in with transflo that week. The money is then loaded on to a Comdata card. You can the pull money out of an ATM, write a comchek, or if you setup direct deposit during orientation, you can deposit into your account. You should have your deposit in 2-3 business days.

If you have any more questions, I will try and answer as best I can.

The lady who is in charge of Entry Level Drivers told me that training depends on you, average is 2 weeks and they dont want you out mor than 4 weeks. I asked her about waiting for a truck after training and she said right now there is no wait but it could be 3 or 4 days. My mentor will be here tommorow but he cant unload until Monday so I wont get on the truck till Monday but at least it is for sure now. When do you start??

I have had students that are on the truck 1 week and catch on real quick. From some students that just need to familiarize themselves with the qual comm to guys that need to be out for 2-3 weeks. It all depends on how fast you catch on to things and how well your driving/backing skills are developed.

May fuels out of TA and Pilots only, besides their two terminals that have fuel islands. I did fuel at a Flying-J yesterday now that Pilot is slowly taking them over.

My past 4 students have all had a truck waiting for them right after they have solo'd out. Might not be the newest truck in the fleet, but the new hires tend to get the older trucks that are about to be sold off. They say to not get comfortable in your first truck if it has high mileage. You never know though, I have heard of a new hire getting one of the brand new ProStars, but I think that is a rare occurence.

I did have a student that used to work for May two years ago but had to leave due to health issues. He got himself to the point where he could drive again, but he had let his CDL expire. May had him go to school again and he had to go out with a trainer as well. Make sure to ask the recruiter you talk to and make see what they want you to do.

I dont know Powder Joints, I know they have a PHX - LA loop but dont know much about it. If you have any info please further on it and once I get assigned a truck I will talk with them about it. Thanks.[/QUOTE]

Typically the run goes like this:

    Los Angeles> Phoenix> Denver> Spokane> Los Angeles
    or
    Los Angeles> Phoenix> El Paso> Albuquerque> Phoenix> Denver> Cheyenne> Bellevue> Los Angeles

You'll be busy, I ran this when I was not out picking up trucks from driver that were discharged. Lots of miles, they have recommended
routing but did not seem to care that I like to run direct (shortest route), but if you break down be prepared for the 3rd degree. Also logging is how ever it takes to get it done, but they don't mind drivers running legal. But if you get the loads handled they tend to reward that as well.

It was back in 2003 that I was there so my information may not be current anymore, I can only a test to what was there when I was. The paid at the end of loads was not bad, It used to be ComCheck only.

Glad to see it changed those were some of my major complaints, since condata charges you and so did May.
