I never idle is my money my fuel for the winter a blanket with thermostat and 2sleepingbag nothing more iagual how cold. Is outside in the diesel I put a liquid do not frozen the fuel works nice. I work for a company now that lets me just idle the truck. Makes far more sense than an apu.
Since this is a thread about sleeping in *winter*....my truck does have a webasto. -

We have APUs - TriPacs mostly. Keeps me cool in the summer, and the Webasto keeps me warm in the winter. Lots of power for ac stuff. And, unlike your former employer, mine doesn't have a problem keeping things repaired.
