Seems to me like a lot of guys go out of their way to take the wind out of your sails. It just usually means that they're in the Doldrums themselves, emotionally or intellectually, and feel the need to drag someone down with 'em.

I hate to admit it, but i think that tractor trailer drivers drive "real" trucks. kinda like a guy driving a toyota pickup, and another guy driving a F-250. I feel superior rolling down the road in in my big ole' 18 wheeler. But im sure there are lots of guys driving straight trucks that make more money then me and get to go home everynite.

If you are driving today and generating profit for you and your company then you need to call yourself a specialist, not a little brother. I keep getting tempted to go back OTR but I don't because I do the math and I know how much it costs to live out there.
The rewards for OTR are just not there today and what do you do when local pays better? I am a good driver and I am not going to step back on the road just because some idiot with 10 years of experience still watches Movin' On and believes that Jackie Gleason was a real smokey. -
this has helped me out alot thanks for the info guys be safe out there no matter what u drive god bless all of you.

you should see the way i turn when i pull my 40' tankers. My trainer calls me "mr i drive a 53 footer"! he keeps telling me not to swing out soo wide.
Oh yeah, most drivers think my truck is a lot longer than it is. it really doesnt look much shorter than a dry van truck until you put them side by side. I've even seen guys on this forum say these tanks are 48',
... I'm just waiting for the day when some swift or werner driver backs in next to me, thinking my truck is bigger than it is, and slams into whatever is behind us...ahahaha...
but now when i wave at drivers when i pass them, they dont even wave back at me. wtf? I drove to jefferson city MO and back to the home base in gary, 800 miles, and not a single driver waved at me....I did make some kids smile though. LOL at one point some kid wanted me to honk the horn, i reached for the ceiling and realized i drive a volvo...its in the middle of te steering wheel...
atleast they dont disrespect me when im in the truckstop making fun of me because of who i work for..Last edited: Jul 25, 2010

Of COURSE he has power. Member of the month. Plus, it takes POWER to pull those big loads.
IMHO telling a professional truck driver that he is not a "real truck driver" because he doesn't happen to be driving what you think a "real truck driver" should drive, is arrogant, stupid, and just plain wrong. Don't sweat the dummies in life. -
I have to chuckle a little at this because being a biker and a member of a biker forum, we often get very similar questions from folks who ride anything but a Harley...LOL
I tell them all the same the thing. As long as you ride, you're a biker. It makes no difference what it is you ride. Well, OK, almost no difference. If it has pedals, I draw the line there...LOL
Sorry but I just can't accept a moped as being a BIKE! LOL
So I have to agree with most here and say, of course you're a real trucker as you drive a real truck. Just my 2 cents. -
Yeah; the trick is to keep fuel in the tanks.... Then you have power.. power to move.....REDD said: ↑You have power?
