Well I can Say this, I just talked to Cpape, and he is probably one of the Honest People I have spoke to on the phone from a Trucking company, he is the VP there and does not butter coat anything. Unfortunately for me I am not within their lanes of Travel, Wish I was. But if you are I do believe that this company is For people who are looking for a long term Career.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Thanks for the kind words...too bad you live in VA. You ol' farm boys usually know how to take care of business.
Mastertech Thanks this. -
How about from the Chicagoland area? What kind of exp are you needing?

Milksired--any drivers that do not live within driving distance would need to be individually reviewed. Our training program is based on a lot of one-on-one interaction at home base after each trip. So someone that needed much training would probably not be a good fit unless they live within driving distance. Naperville does fall within our traffic lanes, but I would be concerned about what you would do with the truck. The Chicago suburbs are not exactly truck friendly. Up to this point, we have not had much success with drivers that lived away from our home terminal so we have basically avoided it. We are reconsidering this, but we would want to start with our "ideal" candidate. Someone with significant experience that has a very good place to park the truck (safe and accessible), and a stable work history. Independent contractors fitting this bill would be even better. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm with one of those companies that we dont talk about too much. Before all the economy stuff hit, we were at the $80-$90k a year range. Now we are at the 60-65k but it is improving as time goes on.
One thing that some of you are not getting is it is way different when pulling oversize equipment loads and some of the loads pay really well. You'll never find these kind of jobs from the big 5.
There is also a down side so to speak, there is no one around to hold your hand in the smaller companies. Your completely on your own. No 24 hour dispatch to call and ask a ?. Its either figure it out or wait until the next day.
I run every week with about a 1/2 dozen equipment haulers and we all make the same, but its more than the big5outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
No 24 hour dispatch??? Doesn't your owner have a cell phone? I ask my drivers not to call after 10 unless it is necessary, but I am on call for any of them 24/7. I am curious who you work for. It sounds like a good job, and you are just down the road from us.

I live within 150 miles of him. I have not called him or anything since the last company I drove for, was always pushing for illegal running even when they said they were not. The safety dept spoke out of both sides of their mouth. It has made me very distrustful of companies.
It might be a little while before I ever want to work for someone again. -
CAPE, oh you have no idea,lol.... Send me an email, I sent one to your company today

Roadmedic--you must have had a pretty sour experience. If you are interested in learning more about my company, feel free to get in touch. If you have a good thing somewhere else, no worries.
