I 100% totally agree. I bet you i could've set off that bomb from the highway! There was sooo much vapor, there had to have been somewhere where the air/fuel mixture was just perfect for ignition.....
That's funny that thats a shell station you're thinking of. I'm talking about the shell across the street from flying j in benton harbor, mi exit 30, FYI. -
I have not been to Delek in Brentwood. I have never heard of that place.
My plan is just to do my job stay out of trouble and go home safely everyday. -
Yeah and and if he gets caught it's a automatic $10,000 fine for both the driver and the company he works for. Eagle doesn't have a whole lotta things that they will automatically terminate you for, but not using the vapor recovery is one of them. Safety teams are constantly patroling our areas of operation and if they catch someone ... that's it ... no second chances ... you are gone and good luck trying to get another job hauling gas. Company policy states that if a vapor recovery system is installed at the drop site it MUST be used ...
South Carolina is one of those areas that don't require vapor recovery ... alot of the stations in SC do have vapor recovery but the state does not require it yet -
Are you talking about the Ontario truck stop? That is one CRAZY place! -
None of the Mom and Pop statios in GA have vapor recovery. Just the larger stores have them like kroger and Pantry. I was surprised at how many Gas Stations in South Carolina have them. I had hold Gas for 9 months prior to coming to Eagle and never saw a Vapor recovery. I have a buddy that I went to Eagle Basics with that works on a dedicated account for a local distributer and has never even heard of a Vapor recovery system until he went to Eagle Basics. All he does is small Mom and Pops though.

Those stations have to be in an area where there no air problems. Most likely in the country. I know of no city that does not have vapor recovery. We too are required to use vapor recovery if it's there EVEN on diesel. But I've only seen one place that had vapor on the diesel tanks.
We had this one guy from a common carrier take one of our loads one time and didn't use vapor. This guy comes up to him and asked him aren't you required to use that smaller hose. The driver told him to get the f**ked out of his area. The guy said you don't understand, I'm the one in changed for air quality and I'm contacting your company right now. The guy wasn't fired but he lost a bunch of money and had to write like a 10 page letter why it would be better to use vapor recovery. We thought it was funny. -
Yeah ... like ten pages of
