I was talking to one of my classmates the other day and he told me the only newbies Crete hire have to come from a PTDI school. I went to Florida Coast Career Tech here in Jacksonville which was a 320 hour course. It just seems like they are turning their backs on a lot of potentially good drivers out here if its true.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Does Crete/Shaffer only hire newbies from PTDI accredited schools?

I believe Crete is now sometimes hiring newbies. They never used too and have always had very strict hiring guidelines. My cousin worked for them and they are a very good company. Trucks aren't the fastest but I hear the pay is good and the company is pretty honest. I think the only stipulation is that you have to have gone to a school that they honor.

One other thing TRE, they do have a terminal here in Fl. It is a couple of miles from my house here in Deland. Deland is about 15 miles west of Daytona so really not to far from you. I gotta tell you though living in JAX you should have quite a selection of companies. Even on Craigslists there are a lot of postings for drivers in JAX. I don't know if you got my post about Armellini but they are hiring new drivers too! This is a really good company if you like to be home more often. The run floral loads out of FL 3-5 days with multiple stops sometimes over 50! When you are empty you pick up a load and run home with it and most of the time the locals deliver for you. The work is a little more entailed however you aren't going to find a better paying trucking job. They pay the highest because you not only get paid by the mile you get paid by the stop. Like I said you can have over 50 stops! I worked for a company called Stansell which was next door and did the same exact thing. I was 21 and bringing home $1000-$1400 per trip! It is all team however. I do not work for them or are associated with them in anyway, but I highly recommend them! Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah I've heard some good things about Armellini. Only thing is I don't have my HAZMAT right now which I see is one of their hiring requirements.

They will hire you without it. They give you like 90 days to get it while you are working for them. Actually you aren't too far from there terminal in Pierson/Seville. It is right there off highway 17. I think it is about 10 miles north of where 40 intersects 17. Check out craigslist under the daytona/transport listings. I think it was yesterday or the day before the were running an ad for drivers. You can really make good money with them.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll check it out as soon as I finish running some errands.

based on the fact a crete driver forced me off the road while doing an illegal pass on a 2 lane road, i think they will hire anything that can slither behind the wheel.
oh yeah........ if one of them damages your truck, you can forget about them paying for it. -
Yeah I know, I had a toyota force me off the road what kind of drivers do they think they are all toyota and sh--!
