Sprerry Rail Service is always hiring drivers. They have a high turnover due to the away from home, so a OTR driver would have a field day out here. 4 weeks paid vacation first year, then 5, then max at 6 by year 3. If you decide to give up hourly pay and go for Chief Operator, you get 8 weeks vacation. Benefits and 401K available after 6 months.
Basic job description: Drive a 30' bobtail hi-rail inspection truck. Working well with others is a must. We drive ON the railroad, checking for defects, then get off and drive to the hotel. Once we are done with that railroad, we move on up. My itenerary for the next few weeks has me leaving LA (FINALY!!!) for Portland, then on to ND and finally Minneapolis.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

What are the requirments for the job?Do they hire women?
-
Website says $10 an hour to start. How many hours you get?
-
$10......OMG. and I'm sure you will be responsible for all your meals in that DUMP of a motel they put you in. That might be the real reason for the high turnover.
-
$10 an hour, starting wage. (raises at 90 days, 180, and yearly if performance is good) GUARANTEED 40 hours a week (plus overtime). $147 a week for "expenses" hotels are usually decent... La Quinta, Ramada, etc...
4 weeks vacation... your first year, max at 6 weeks after 3 years.
yes there are women working here.
if you promote to Chief Operator, you will be on a fixed salary... with 8 weeks of vacation a year.
the reason for the turnover IS the 3 months on the road bit... other than that it's not a bad gig...
requirements? good driving record, technical background helps... we do some minor maintenance on the truck, but let the professionals to the heavy stuff....Runaway02 Thanks this. -
Can you live from any state?I'm from PA how would that work if I apply and get a interview.Who pays your bus ticket home when you get time off?
-
I just saw an ad for this company in my local newspaper and it caught my interest.
Thanks for posting and I will do some research and if I apply, I will definitely give them your name. I see that your headed to my state, welcome and it is beautiful this time of year. -
147 week for motels that means good luck on that wanted to work in the sand region, got half way thru the resume and quit i got grand kids 3 months away omg
-
$147.00 is for FOOD. Hotels are paid by Sperry according to brochure.
-
I'm 58 yrs old, 35 yrs experience OTR/Regional,divorced (too many times), no kids, no family & usually spent 5-6 months on the road with my own trucks (hence, the divorces).
How strict is Sperry on MVR's; mine has a few smudges left to fall off?
I have a nest egg saved & don't need to make a whole lot of money in the beginning. Sperry, per their brochure, seems to cover most immediate expenses, for the 1st year, anyway.
I'll gladly use your name if this works out.
