APU wins according to my bookkeeper. One will last 2 X as long as a truck so you can use it on 2 trucks, SEE!!! It will save about 300/mo in fuel if you run single and Comes to $28,800. One of those little buggers costs about 6-7000 now and you canwrite it off so it saves in taxes. Whats not to love and theya re quiet, no vibration. My 1 st one with an ONAN engine is still sitting in my yd and will crank up even tho its about 15 yrs old.

APUs are already obsolete !!!
Watch what transforms in the next few years !!!!!!!! -
I am listening to a podcast about idle regulations and what the public hears on it.
I am a firm believer that motor carriers, not drivers, should be required to put APU's on all their trucks. This is not just about comfort, but is a serious safety issue for not only the driver, but the motoring public a tired or sick driver, from heat or cold exposure, may injure or kill.
Actually, being a safety issue, maybe there should be a law that truck manfacturers must add APU's to all new truck designs, just like they require seat belts by law. It would probabkly be cheaper to have the manufacturer add it on during production, than to have and APU installed later.
Just a thought.JimDriv3r Thanks this. -
This sounds more like common sense, which is not allowed in this country. You will be under arrest for proposing such common sense ideas.
But seriously, the only time the government gets involved in ANYTHING USEFUL for the citizens involves taxes and more regulations. I wouldn't be surprised to see an increase in the fuel tax once ALL trucks start using APU's to save on fuel costs and consume less fuel in general.outerspacehillbilly and TheHealthyDriver Thank this.
