I take long breaks all the time (often 12 hours or so)...and I've never had them question me about it.

Of course it doesn't effect my ETA though

It was because of the fact that I could not run my full 11 that I had to adjust the eta.
I very seldom ever take more than my 10 hour break unless I have a set appointment and there is no sense in leaving early.
It just really made me angry that I was being accused of dogging it when in fact I had busted my but. I do not stop for lunch or anything.
It just would have been nice if the information would have been remembered and offered at the instance it was questioned.

This happened to me at Schneider about two months ago. In the name of utilization, they started sending out canned messages to drivers who took breaks of more than 12 hours. I took this up with my Driver Manager, and the reminders ceased.

I like to run pretty much through the day without any substantial breaks, then take about 12 hours off. Gives me time to shower, eat, communicate with family, and just chill. Plus you have those random days when you only have x hours to work or run.

It was the only time it has ever happened to me! The CSR was probably having a bad day. Had she known the facts, she would not have made any comments. Overall I am very happy at Maverick and am glad that I chose them over others. I have friends that work at other companies and I am much better off!

They definitely hire vets as I am one. Not sure of the criminal records though.

I know Maverick takes pride in getting the loads there on time when they originally tell the customer they will be there. I have had to adjust eta's before and nothing was ever said. Sometimes it can just not be helped for any number of reasons. But it will never be because I did not do everything in my power to get it there on time.

Guess I should have said you need to follow up with them. I generally come home empty for vacation as I do not want to do anything concerning work. I don't even want to look at my truck let alone have to do a swap.

Well I spoke with him as soon as I unloaded and asked what the procedure was going to be. I was told that I would be given a load to head home with and a swap would be arranged for saturday, which meant tomorrow. I got the load, picked it up and headed home. I received no further information until I sent a qualcom message.
I do not mind doing a trailer swap or anything else. I did not expect them to dead head me 300 plus miles.
But I was not going to call up another time. I was going to but then I thought, I will just see how this whole things works out.
I could have just parked my truck and waited for the call on Monday and seen it all hit the fan, but I did not want to make Maverick look bad.
I know everyone is busy, but we as drivers do not get cut much slack. Make a mistake, get a safety point or pay for something out of your pocket. Get mad and leave and your DAC gets reported on (however I have not ever seen a dac report...but I have read the stories)
This is not the first time things have been forgotten.
I have been asked at least twice if I had time to make a load. Before I can ever stop and check, I am getting the load assigned to me. And it makes me wonder, why did you even ask me if I could make it if you are not going to wait for my answer.

All I am saying is what is good for the goose is good for the gander. We as drivers are held to a very high standard. I believe everyone else should be as well!

MtDewMan and Road Boss Thank this.
