Down here is 34k on a closed tandem, 40k on a spread. Unless you have a permit then it ups the weight. Basically, that piece of paper just allows you to haul heavy legally.
outerspacehillbilly, Iceman_biker and Injun Thank this. -
I know what he means. Hauling a derrick with my stretch trailer the most I
can permit my 5 axle rig for is 115K or close to that don't remember exactly.
But they have a max weight that you can permit axle's or groups of axles, such
as a tandem.
The 34K that Les is talking about is the max without permits. -
In Pa for a 5 axle they will give you a 112000 permit. 12 for the steer and 25 for the rest. Depends on the state.
-
Where they get you is the routing. If your just heavy it usually ain't to bad, but get wide or tall and look out! God only knows where you might end up..?
-
How about heavy, tall, and wide???

Bring your vasoline!

There was a super load that came into Burgettstown, Pa (just west of Pittsburgh) last summer. He come outta Baltimore by way of some "cow path" north of I 80. Had a part for their new manipulator. It was wide tall and about 105 tons on 19 axles not counting the pusher truck. Thats along way out of the way. Took 3 months to get the permits in order to truck it. I told one of them they should have just run it after dark and come across 68

#### my load that is 14' wide, 80' long, and 88K (118K gross) is nothing
compared to that.. -
We would have to start a new forum about why Dale Sr. died. But, the wreck you are talking about was not caused by speed it was caused by her stupidity of driving too fast for the conditions and obviously trying to pass where she shouldn't. I don't mean any disrespect to you but, I get tired of the lame old story about the excuse for police writing speeding tickets. It's an easy and lazy way of generating revenue. I have on numerous occasions been on my motorcycle and been run off the road by a cager and call the police with the license number and nothing is done. But, drive 15 over and they are all over your butt.
