Hey JD1222;
No one here is dissing you.. We all said go for it..
I do not trust nor beleive any help will ever come from any part of our government. never has and never will.
Unions have spoken for themselves in the past. They created coruption and bigger government. They did get many out of sweat shops. But it is over for unions.
There is no unity among drivers today. 1/2 are from other countries and can not even speak decent english. Your fight is not against me or any of us older O/Os .... it is however with the companies that hire drivers that can not speak english and came from other countries and took away your decent paying jobs.
Driver shortage ??? Not here.. They will just import more of them..
Loyalist ?????
If and {when} the time comes we will see who is loyal...
The fight should have started at our boarders and put a stop to importing cheap labor.. Next , the fight should be with YOUR company .. They are the ones to blame Not me or Us...
I do not sign your pay check or set your company policies. They do..
The FACT is if you did get your wish , Your company would fight it tooth and nail.. And more than likely shut there doors.
I work for a 100% O/O company , Not a lease to {Never} own company.
I {we} do not have the issues that You do.. So why then would I or we want in on making these 1/2 American drivers happy ????
This may be hard for you to understand.. But if you were an O/O that has been here since the 70s or early 80s you would see a different side to this..
I really have no complaints.. My rates are coming up . I have had no tickets in 20 plus years and I don't give Rats butt about CSA 2010.
If it takes drivers off the road , that will make more freight and higher rates for me. Sorry , but sometimes the truth hurts..
You go for it and I hope you get what you want in life.
I must say , I am willing to bet that if you take the same money you will spend on your DC trip and take a nice vacation with the wife you will get a lot more out of it in the end.. but , do as you must..
Be careful about the Loyalist thing.. You do not know us very well.
Many of us are why your are still here and free to pursue you passion..
Have a good one. :smt067:smt072
Why a strike? The CSA 2010 will cripple trucking.

Hey ;
There were about 3% that said NO to the King and all his horses and men.
3% stood and fought. many, followed , but only after they saw how serious this was going to get.
At that point the KINGs Men did not discriminate and that is what changed their minds.
The final out come was that the King and his men and even all his horses had no choice but to give up. They could not win..
History Repeats it self. 80 Million gun owners in the US today.. If only 3% stand and say NO. Would you call that Unity ???????
You use the term Loyalist .... By who's definition ? Loyal to the King or Loyal to a belief ?
United we stand / divided we fall ,, but it will not be over a trucking issue at all. -
Yes, Loyalist to the status quo, I've only been in it since the mid 90's not the late 70's & 80's like yourself, give me a few more years & I'm sure I'll become just as PASSIVE as you guys, the freedom you think you see doesnt exist & never will, stop dreaming about it, deregulation never meant life behind the wheel w/o regulation, it was part of Jimmy Carters blundered economic plan to try to ease the airline industy in the late 70's & the problems it was having. As we can see th airline & trucking have similar issues JB HUNT=Continental Delta=Scnieder, I would love to dismantle the govt machine with you guys & have total freedom too, but its a pipe dream, they just added a new level with the CSA 2010 rules, ALL I'm saying for christs sake is FOLLOW them, FOLLOW their rules so they can see how assinine they are, YES, the driver WILL lose $$$ at first (just like I have been all year) but when & ONLY when Drivers stand on principle, refuse to cut corners, lie, sacrifice sleep & health, will they have a bargaining chip at the game table. As a boss, if someone is willing to do all that so I make money, wow, great, but its moved way past just shush, now lying & sacrificeing are mandatory & that willingness to go the extra distance has been taken away from us, turned around & forced on us, now there is no extra distance. Now were up against a wall, I'm so tired of seeing driver after driver interviewed about rules & hearing them say the 14 hr is bad because i doesnt allow them to work 16-18 hrs a day, WTF!?, I know we used to log off duty at shippers, recievers to save hrs but thats insanity, where do they find these idiots, the govt just made it so you can work a little less, so What drivers need to do is petition to have their pay hinged to the log so the salary matches the 14 hrs, but co, will close their doors YOU say, I say GOOD! THATS WHAT I WANT!!!!!!!! I WANT the BIG companies to close if they dont cooperate, so smaller co. like yours who prob. would treat their employees right can grow & prosper. I didnt want to put any of this in writing to be used against me, I like to keep my ideas mine, cards up my sleeve, now I'm going to be made to sound like a radical who's against the entire industry if this gets out, I'm not, I'm just Pro-Driver, thats it, that simple.
southernpride, THD and truckerdave1970 Thank this. -
Hey :
It sounds to me that you are a company driver . If so I do feel for you and no , You should not have to do what you are doing , ....
You should be paid for your time. Detention time is rarely ever paid..
If and when it goes to that company and the driver gets nothing.
Still , your company is at fault here ..
They are the ones cheating you.. I would move on ...
As an O/O I have none of the issues you do . I set my delivery appointments and never let a dispatcher do it. I sleep every night .. All night..
I stop and eat when I feel like it. I fuel where I want to ..
My pay is a totally differnt thing than what you have going on.
I have worked at this for a long time. The 14 hour rule sucks because , we used to be able to pull off and take a nap when ever. Now we must do everything a 14 hours .. I rarely ever drive my 11..
I have many stops on my loads and like it that way.. Some are very close to the next but they closed for that day and , well I will just be there the next day..
I average around 2500.00 to 3000.00 per week bring home after fuel.
My truck payment is $950.00 per month..
I feel I am doing just fine and I do not need to push things any harder than I do now.
I flat out hate our government regulations... Every time they stick their nose in our business they put the screws to us.
They are at it again as we all know.
I was involved in just about every shut down we had.
I boycotted , I even ran gypsy for years . I got away with it then.
With the new scales out here now it is very close to impossible to do that now.
You are somewhat missunderstanding some of us. We are not against You. Just not willing to bare our butts for a radio personality...
Our congress men are all crooks and no one will get anywhere with any of them.
Our current leader is a lier and a thief and has taken all of us to the cleaners . So who did you say we are to ask for help ????
You would have a different veiw if you went and bought a truck and leased on with a GOOD company and I mean an all O/O company that you do not have to compete with company trucks or drivers and set your own rules.
Then you would start feeling and acting more like we do.
We made it through a lot tuffer times then this. Many of us are still here .
The survivers have learned how to do it right and let uncle sam play with us all he wants to.
I could add more about the loyalist thing but already know I would be shut down fast and maybe even watched .
I never log dock time. Never have and never will. I log 2 stops in this city or 3 stops in that city .. That has always worked and I have never had to change it. We still use loose leaf logs.
Most companies now are famous for taking advantage of their drivers on this issue. No pay for dock time. Get Paid and then give them a log .
I can see your mad about this , but again we are not the ones you should be mad at.mizdageeragn and KittyKat501 Thank this. -
you never have to worry about making me mad or upset by speaking your mind you are a big part of this business and by all means let your opinions be known i for one look forward to hearing them i am not so good that i can't listen and i will every time so keep it up my friens i look forward to hearing what you have to say.
best to you and happy trailes. southernpride -

I dont care what shutdowns you were involved with in the past or how well you have it now, I'm not trying to reach just you, trying to throw a bigger net so to say, if what you were involved with didnt change anything, then I didnt work & the goal remains the same, just the approach needs to be different. 2-3 days will change nothing for th masses, maybe no rolls for frozen hamburgers on the shelf & no ketchup but they could live with that, it will cost a driver $800-$1000 to shut down, tell me, who gets hurt more, THATS THEIR MENTALITY PLAYING YOU LIKE A VIOLIN. I've said it manny times already, drivers NEED to aggresivly schedule their PAID vacation on the same week every year, the week before labor day, very simbolic, & pick a city to gather in PEACEFULLY, leave the trucks home or at work & work EVERY YEAR until changes are made. otherwise stay LOYAL to the way things are.

I'm close to taking 2 FITALL pills & giving up, all I ever hear is years ago or if only, or it'll never happen, well its not years ago, ITS NOW, not if only, how about WHAT IF, not it'll never happen....MAKE IT HAPPEN

Hey JD.
Only chill pills allowed here.
You will do fine. Get it organized right and I am sure many will follow.
Many will not , but that will seperate the good the Bad and the ugly.
Please remember , we all learn from the past. Our mistakes and our sucesses.
The Government has never helped the trucking industry yet. They imposed huge taxes on us and many wild rules. We all must live by them or pay the price.
Our nations Air lines have had a lot of help, Our rail systems have had way to much help, and even some farmers have had help at least with taxes.
Even the federal government steels from our road taxes.
The monster we are up against is huge and we are not all "Davids" with sling shots.
This in no way implies that we should not take a stand. Go for it all the way ..
I would even consider voting for you if you can pull it off.
Yet with all of this against us , I still see some mighty shinny large cars out there.
I was not trying to haunt you with how well I have done. rather let you know that even with all that is against us it can still be done.
It is sometimes a matter of attitude. Just has to be aimed in the right direction. I do admire your guts and willingness to speak out . I did for many years and was labeled a Radical..
I just got quieter, still the same under all of it.
You want Radical ? Don't even get me on the subject of our leader and his inability to Salute our flag..
I would be banned from this and any other public forum.
While I will not be there with you , I still got your back. -
My company works with a compaliance company. After our classes on the new CSA 2010 and logbooks, I don't see that many drivers leaving the road. It won't change much. The main thing that WILL change, is the number of "super truckers" will decline. The rules are designed to take the truckers off the road that consistantly break the laws, logbook violations, speeding, overweights, etc. If you are running legal, you have nothing to worry about. CSA 2010 makes the drivers responsible for THEIR own personal violations. Safety points go against both the company AND the driver. Your best defense is to educate yourself with the rules and NOT take to heart what you hear in the truckstops and on the c.b. radio.
Interesting enough, is the new HOS proposal by P.A.T.T. Parents Against Tired Truckers. They think we will have safer roads if the following rules are adopted; 8 hours of driving per day, 40 hours per week, and removal of the 34 hour restart. I doubt this will fly, wonder how far it will go when they find out it will greatly increase the number of trucks on the road and significantly increase the cost of living.kehaunani64 Thanks this.
