Truck driving school in NW Indiana

    Hey all,
    This is my first post on the forum... I'm looking into going to a school in northwest/northern indiana in order to get my class A CDL. A friend of mine went to CDI in South Bend and though the experience was ok, but I was wondering if anyone else has opinions about the schools around here. I'd like to make as much money as possible my first year, so the lower my initial cost, the better for me. I do understand that you do get what you pay for, though...
    Are there any schools that can help me into better jobs than others?
    Are there any to avoid?

    BTW, I've had my class B for two years and driven school buses throughout Chicagoland, as well as jockeying/spotting at a very large hub for two years...

    That is the only one i know up north. Heres the ones i know of..

    Sage: kendallville
    Sage: Muncie
    Sage: Indy
    C1: Indy
    Roadmasters: Indy
    Vincennes uni: indy

    There are found online. Thats all of the ones i know of. Sage is through ivy tech. Them and VU are around 4400. VU is also 8 weeks and sage is 4-5 weeks from what i have been told. Hope this helps.

    Your best bet is one of the Sage schools. They have one of the best student to teacher ratios out there. When you do the driving it is 1 on1. Classroom size is from 6-9 students. I did extensive research and they were # 1 or 2 in all phases of the program. I would recomend you get your cdl permit before going if possible. Download one of the manuals from the BMV and study the sections on which you need. Tankers, doubles,triples, hazmat etc.
    This will give you more time on the range and road. Check them out on hte web and then call them and they can set you up for a visit. They will let you go and sit in one of their classes for a day to see if you think this is what you want.
    Hopefully this helps you a bit. The biggest thing you can do is research, research and research. What is right for one may not be for another.

    I also forgot to mention that vincennes also gets you 1000 hours of road time. She said the average class size is about 3 students.
