I noticed recently that when applying air to remove my tractor brakes (Yellow knob) that sometimes air is heard hissing...long after the brakes are released....it keeps hissing...so if you stop, Pull the valve out and re-push it in, sometimes once it applies air to the brakes, then it stops hissing and sometimes you need to do this 2 times.
So far, it hasnt caused any issues but what's going on here?
Time for a new valve set?
I do not have the foot brake applied when I am pressing in the yellow knob either...

Had the same thing happen to me. Told the boss man he said to just replace the vavle. I did and it fixed it. Sure is annoying hearing that hissing at you isnt it? Makes you think it wants to pop out on you while your going down the road.
-
eventually you wouldn't be able to release the brakes !!!!

<- Yellow face for yellow valve
Yea, that is a serious concern of mine. Either not being able to release the brakes or SNAP/POP and I find out what the steering wheel tastes like at 50mph...
I wonder how hard of a job it is to replace this valve. Doesnt look too all that bad, but thats what I thought about the last few things I have done.

I was driving a Pete with a South Dakota road train. I weighed up to 140,000. There were times my valve leaked worse than others and when it leaked worse I kept my hand on the valve as much as possible. That was last spring but from what I remeber it was pretty easy. You have a K Whopper though so Im not sure if itll be much different.
Hanadarko Thanks this. -
I would guess this is similar. AS long as I can do this myself, then thats cool. I have given KW way too much $ lately in labor... -
you can get the tpv at truckpro for about $120.00
-
We have NO truckpro places here. I have one in IL I have called in the past, but here I have KW or Truckcountry...unless I mail order it. -
four screws hold the valve to the dash.take these out, then the valve will come out.
there will be 5 or 6 air lines that go in the back,my 95 had the push on style coupler on these.
remove lines,swap valves, reassemble.
not that bad of a job, just a little aggravating because it's a tight fit behind it.
you might remove the switch panel above the valve for better access. -
You've got mail.
