I resigned from Smith Transport on 6/2010. Stay far away from this company. They are mainly east coast, from Maine to Georgia. When you get to go west you wont go any further then Kansas City,KS. Dispatch is poor, they love to mess with you. They are not there to help you but to hassle you. Maintance at Roaring Spring is extremely
poor. They sign off they did the work, but dont do the work. Oil changes are done every 50000 miles. Yes,clogged oil filters. You can watch your oil pressure drop. The
trucks are pure junk. Even the newer ones have multiple problems, big problems. In the offices at Roaring Spring truck drivers are considered dog crap. They dont want
you in the building let alone help you with any thing. Safety is a joke. The people who audit your logs have no understanding of the rules you have to follow. The head
of safety is a real piece of work. They have forced dispatch. It will be up to you to make your log look legal. Just as long as the freight gets picked up and delivered on time, they dont give a darn about you or whats happens to you. This was my experience with Smith. I resigned because I had to have a non serious medical procedure and they wouldnt let me go home to get it done. I was having mild pain
and was just tired of their crap.

ive talked to a few of their drivers they say things have gone way down hill since usx took over
-
I've noticed lately alot of smith transport daycab vaccum tankers for the oil field around my house. anyone got any info on that?
-
The Vacuum Tankers at Roaring Spring is a closely guarded secret. Any body I asked
said they didn't know any thing. I saw them on I-99 and I-80. The drivers of the tank
trucks dont associate with any one except another tank driver. There equipment gets priority in the shop. My guess is that the owner doesnt want any body horning in to his new business. Sorry, but thats all I know. I talked to a couple of other drivers and they couldn't find out any more than I did. I did hear that they are drilling a whole
bunch of oil wells in that area. -
Wow you were suffering from mild pain and had to come home to fix it. Sounds like you need your mom more than a driving job. I worked for Smith for years and never had a problem with the way I was treated by anyone in the building. At Smith you get treated like you treat others. If you like to drive and want miles they will give all you can handle. Anytime I needed to come home they made sure I was there.

Mr. Chad, My mother has been dead for a number of years. I was out for 3 weeks and it was my home time. Now lets discuss who you are. You are an office person, and I would guess one of the few dispatchers left at smith transport. May be Mr. Dispatcher if you treated the drivers with respect you wouldnt be losing so many drivers each week. Mr. dispatcher do you realize that you are just as responsible for drivers driving illegally as the driver. Yes that could mean serious jail time for you
if that driver has a accident with a death involved. I see that you say you are from
Palm Harbor Florida. Strange Mr. Dispatcher, you cant even be honest saying where
you live.
Drivers, stay away from this company. They are a nightmare. -
chad why did you leave smith?
-
There not drilling oil wells they are natural gas wells. A boom is taking place in Pa., OH, and Wva since a series of natural gas deposits have been discovered in the border regions of these states.
-
All I can say is I am so happy Spirit 124 has left Smith Transport!
Oh and Jellybean, US Xpress has not taken over anything. -
Stay away from smith transport. There dispatches suck , there trucks are carp, low miles, mechanics are the worst in the industry. In one week i sat 15hrs one day and two days later i sat for 20hrs. STAY AWAY FROM SMITH TRANSPORT.
