Ive got to correct myself... its 8.66mpg.
-
OK, so you are the "Big Dog" on fuel economy...what are you doing to make this happen?
We (aka;industry/drivers/owners/operators/manufacturers/etc) would love to know.
Thanks U2Exit... -
Beats me. Ive gone east and west. Even across I76 in Colorado.
My trainee managed to knock off the bottom step platform... the pegs are still there with a dent in the fuel tank... some new aerodynamic profile?
Im currently loaded light. 65k total with a box full of strawberries and Im running at about 9.5 right now.
Its been about 5 weeks above 8 MPG and I have had older heavy trailers, newer lighter trailers, heavy loads and light loads... East, West, North and South...
They put on a different fuel filter at the Petro in Knoxville, but it wasnt until a week later when my MPG jumped up from the mid 7s to above 8.
My trainee is getting just as good too when he drives and he's not nearly as gentle on the gas as I am.
55mph... with the cruise nearly on all the time. I bump it up to 57 or 58 when we are faced with a stretch of road that may require us to downshift more often.
We use gravity on the backside of the hills, let it run the speed up to the speed limit and coast until the speed drops back to our cruise setting and re-engage the cruise.
We dont let the cruise race us over the hill or overpasses. Example is if our speed drops below the 55 setting as we are going up the hill, when we get to the top we dont let the cruise automatically mash the throttle to get back to the 55 setting. We use gravity and then light throttle if needed.
Progressive shifting.
I dont think I am covering any new territory here that others havent already stated around here. -
