Long story. Basically I lost my home, and the only way to have my wife and daughter on the truck was to go lease. Well i made even less money lease so I had to turn my truck in and go stay with family.

I dont normalt post here with the newbeis, but emerson ill bet you were promisised the world and you got screwed! i feel for yah brother! see the gooberment is letting these companys ruin peoples lives with this lease program! they run guys thru a drive mill you decide to take on a lease thinking mabey i can make this work??? but what most guys dont understand these companys weiner,cr,snider, crst, prime are makeing a ton of money off from desperat people!!!! think about how many fail and how many have put that down payment and paid the lease say for so many 6 mths, 1) its a cash cow for these companys 2) they tell you the trucks $130,000 bet yah their getting them for $85-90.000 a pop because of buying bulk, their makeing $50,000 off from you 3) trailer rental roughly $800 a mth thats already paid for three times over, the list gos on and on and on, then if you dont get the miles and fall behind the always get theirs first per contract and you get the table scraps ,,,sorry its a no win situation that i will never put myself into, i feel for you emerson, you got suckerd and all you wanted to do was take care of your family, like many others you lost everything ! and iv been down this road and it haunts you everyday, at least you had the gutz to try! but the flip side of this not doing your homework and this is what these companys are counting on in todays economy ,,, remember the recurters job is to sell you on the company and they reel them in hook after hook after hook,,,,,,,,as for the rest that seem to be doing so good im happy for you but more have failed than succeeded, this is just my opinion from what i have seen over the last few yrs:biggrin_25525: so before you go bashing on me it's a opinion and a observation and some liveing thru it,,,,so take it for what its worth:biggrin_25525:

I turned mine in at the beginning of July. They have 45 days to close out your account. When you turn your truck in, you sign a piece of paper at Leasing that states you are terminating your lease and will not be charged any more payments. And they have not charged me any more payments since that day. There was one deferred payment (the first one) that I was charged for.

You will have to get a turn-in inspection done. They will look for even the smallest amount of damage to the truck and make you pay for it. Tears in the seat (even if you sat in it for two years...no such thing as "normal wear and tear" to Prime) light bulbs out, just about anything will count against you. Therefore, make sure you are present for the inspection and get a copy of the inspection report.

You will get charged to wash the interior of the truck. Whether you clean it or not, they will detail it and charge you for it. I would suggest at least sweep it out and get the worst of the crud out. You will pay less if you do.

Tire wear. However much tire wear you have will be charged on a prorated basis to you. You pay for the tires you use. Same as fuel.

Charges on me right now are for a set of batteries, a light bulb on the bottom of the passenger side door, a heater vent in the sleeper area, reflectors over the mud flaps because I took my tail lights off and a tear in the sleeper curtain. I am disputing the batteries and sleeper curtain because they weren't bad when I gave them the truck. There were a couple of warranty issues that Freightliner had to do that I'd been b****ing about for months. Hopefully it got done...the truck was back active in the fleet within two weeks of turn in.

Right now, charges against me are $600, but they have not figured up tire wear yet. I had new tires put on one of the drive axles two weeks before I turned in the truck, the steers are at about 3/4 and the other drive axle has about half left on the tires.

I have basically $2100 in reserve between my tire fund and my performance bond. After they subtract the $600 and then figure out the value of the tires I used, I will get what ever's left over. So we are right now down to about $1500 available for them to charge against. I don't actually expect to get any of that back, but I also do not expect to owe anything. I'll be happy with that.

But I gave them a truck with an exterior in perfect condition with cut and polished tanks and wheels, removed all my decals, did not damage the interior and really took care of it as much as I could. That's the secret to not owing anything when you turn it in.

Get as much stuff fixed yourself before you turn it in. It will cost you less money.

Wish everyone turned in their tractors like that. Had a few drivers that just tossed the keys through the mail slot at 2 AM and the trucks were a pig pen.

I can't understand ,that with all the information out there, people still get involved with any lease purchase programs.

They are without exception, written to give the driver as few rights as possible. Also, you have to drive an average of 1,500 miles a week JUST to pay for the truck and other fixed expenses. Now when most people are only running about 2,000-2,500 miles a week, that doesn't leave a whole lot of money left over for bills at the house.

They are all a scam.Stay away from them.

Ok... I will. Lessee... cross off Weener, Swift, CRE, etc.

Oh yeah... Prime is a straight lease. No purchase, but there is an option if you'd like to exercise it. Seems like I've got plenty of cash going in the bank, after expenses too. So what was your point here?

Wow! That is absolute insanity. It is amazing that there are drivers that sign up for this.
WC Fields was right. There is a sucker born every minute.
