    BigDon,

Thanks for understanding. Believe me, I do hope I get hired by a company like Shaffer (a company I'd pick over Schneider by the way, but one of the few). I'd be thrilled. If my driving record were squeeky clean I'd likely have somewhat of a shot (lack of experience would still be my achilles heel). I'm not going to assume a company won't hire me. I just think I'm being realistic.

On the other hand, if I get a pre-hire from Swift, that would make two companies with pre-hires. That might begin to make me wonder if I'm not underestimating my chances with other companies in general. We'll see.

Well buddy, I do believe the kindness of my heart has once again insured my demise. It would seem saving a family members butt over 20 years ago makes me un-hire-able.

Just got off the phone with Maverick. Everything was going great, sounding great, they are a great company that pays very well. But not for me. (SIGH)

    Chris,

Did you call Western Express yet? I would expect you wouldn't have an issue getting hired their. I'm sorry you got turned down with Maverick, I can really understand your frustration! It's time to get a pre-hire from somebody you know you'll get one from, and then you can work off of that and feel a lot better.

Well they took me so that's not a surprise. J/K

In all seriousness, I haven't read a lot of good things about them, so thanks for the heads up. If I had to choose, I'd choose Swift over Western Express. I'm hoping I'll have more choices then that though. This is an ongoing process.

Maybe its being realistic but until you have been turned down by a company you have a shot.

The only guaranteed way not to get hired is never to apply.

I never would have gotten hired by Superior Carriers right out of school had I listened to all the naysayers. What harm is there in trying. Try to get a face to face with a company you think you could retire with and even if you aren't hired maybe they will remember you in the future.

Some think it's a waste of time but some do it and "get lucky" landing a job with a second level company.

LOL...lower?? What's lower than Werner?? LOL They said the same thing. The deal is, even if I get a posistion with a "sub-prime" outfit, what are my chances of ever moving up from there?

I feel the best approach at this point is to try and tackle the problem from the source and see if I can't get a "good deed" but a bad rap removed from my record. The simple truth is, although what I did was STUPID, it was for a nobal cause and I simply don't deserve the lasting effect it's having.

EDIT: WOW!! only 3 more posts and I can PM folks! Anybody want to BS for a while? LOL

What are your chances of moving from a sub-prime operator to a prime one? Probably pretty good if they are accident free miles.

Anyway, just an update. My application with Swift is still pending due to a review of my driving record. My background and Dac report cleared so I'm going to need to call back on Monday. They are probably comparing my record to other applicants before they make a final decision. We shall see.

No my friend, I haven't but I will. But right now, after this week, I'm just gonna chill. I did speak with Roxi from WS a little while ago and she's going to go over my app personally since thy just lost one person in that department. She really is SO sweet!!

I'll call you after 7:00 buddy and I'm REALLY glad that Western is taking you on. Maybe not top shelf but sometimes all we can ask for is a foot in the door. CONGRATULATIONS my friend!! You're still moving FORWARD and that's something GOOD!! [IMG]
