sence the other thread i started is doing well ( pete 379 vs w900l ) for the owner operators, now its time for the company drivers, the new cascadia's with the DAF tanks may not be out there yet but if they are how are they doing with the DD15 in them, unless there still putting cummins in there, and the newer prostar plus thats a 1,000 lbs lighter and the maxx13 engine now has an engine brake, how are these puppys holding up, to me i see more prostar's than freight shakers, which is a good thing, i want the drivers point of view, and also the mechanic's view of both
cascadia vs prostar plus

Not going to stur up as much excitment on this thread. Guys driving these 2 types of trucks not likely to be so loyal.
-
I have driven both, my current is a cascadia with dd15, so far I really like it.
biker dave Thanks this. -
well from a mechanics pov, I dont like either of them! the prostar and cascadia both are not bad to work on as far as the truck itself. the maxxforce is a pos, and I've never been a big detroit man but given the 2 choices I would go for the detroit. the prostar with the cummins however is ok to work on as far as the engine compartment, as is the cascadia with the detroit. I work for a fleet that has cascadia's with dd15 and prostars with cummins and maxxforce. However on a side about the dd15 we have had 2 trucks both with less than 150,000miles, have metal in the fuel system clogging up the primer fuel pump that is coming past the fuel filters. or it may be coming from internal, that we are working out with dd to find out where its coming from.

check the fuel tanks, have heard in other threads the new fuel eats the inside the of the tanks it self, also maybe someone at the factory forgot to clean the tanks before installing them, can't wait for the new maxxforce15 coming out this fall or early spring, a cat with new air and fuel system, keep us posted on want you find, we all need to learn all this new stuff coming out, thanks

There have been a lot of reports of aluminum tanks being aten by our wonderful new EPA-required low sulfur fuels...

i wounder how (country29) is making out on repairs

I have seen a couple of DD15s and 13s come into the shop in the Cascadias, and they are not a bad truck to work on, but the Coronado is much much easier.
I am not a big fan of the Prostar, its such a pain to access the rear of the engine. And the Maxxforce just sucks have not heard one driver say a good thing about it and its a nightmare to work on. -
I cant read between the lines, what exactly are you asking?
-
you said you found metal in the fuel line clogging up the primer fuel pump
