Good question! I don't have a clue, but I'd like to know as well, ya never know,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The license you do have, is an AZ? Are you relating that to a Canadian license? U.S. license would be a CDL "A", with no endorsements other than airbrakes.:biggrin_25525:

Depends on the state and province. Some have reciprocity agreements with each other. I moved from Manitoba to Nevada. Since Manitoba and Minnesota have agreements with each other I went to MN handed in my MB class 1 and was given a MN CDL. I then traded in my MN CDL for a NV CDL. This was easier than renting a truck in NV to take the driving test because MB and NV do not have a reciprocity agreement.

    johnday Thanks this.

eire, you obviously mean to go to Ontario, as that is the only place that I know of that has an AZ licence, everybody else uses the number system, why Ontario has to be different. Now to answer the question, yes the licence can be swapped out, as long as you are a resident of the US. There are no restrictions as of now for the AZ, which means that you can pull anyweight up to 140k. You cannot however Drive a Motorcycle, Coach Bus with Passengers or School bus with Passengers. Wire has a good point, without a valid SIN number, one that does not start with 6, 6 being a temp, all reputable companies will not hire you, however it will not stop you from getting the licence

Of course you meant 9. :biggrin_25525:

And he may be hireable, it just depends on what his visa says.

I'll ask first. How do you go about finding out if you are eligible? Does a Fast/Xpress card and hazmat help you any?:biggrin_25525:

I ask because Challenger was interested in me a while back, and they said there shouldn't be a problem getting a permit. What ever that meant.

The company would apply to sponsor your visa. It is a very common practise.
