Hello kind folks,
I have heard that it is better to start your training with a "Swift" type company, opposed to a truck driver training school?
My goal is primarily to drive locally, I have no desire to drive cross country, in any capacity. What would you think my best options would be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.-Skylerzx
PS...I live in Las Vegas, NV with a possibility of moving to either Utah or Kansas.
Yes another...Wannabe...

Starter company. . . Tech school. . . It all comes out the same in the end. It's just a matter of money. The best training comes from the road.

You're huntin quail in goose country..most folks here drive otr..if i were you and wanted to be local..my plan would be to go where I could hook up with an established concrete company..they have concrete trucks; dump trucks; line-haul tractor-trailers; & even Ford F350's pulling dump trailers..They also need good hands to keep their equipment up and rolling and their concrete plants operational.. Depending upon where you live, work can be seasonal, so take that into consideration..Happy Trails.

Why don't you want to do cross country? That's half the fun of this job!

Swift has a HH division in Salt Lake UT. This is a regional position that should be able to get you hometime and is open to new drivers I believe. Call the Salt Lake terminal and see if it fits your needs. Also, check into fuel companies. There are fuel companies that go out and fuel regional fleets. The ones up here accept students.
Best of luck. -
Why not go direct to a local company in your area and ask if they train? It worked for me.
